Ep 117. How do you achieve your goals as a professional athlete? with Clifford Starks

50m · Published 31 Jan 18:00

On this episode of GET TO KNOW YOU, we discuss another thought-provoking topic; ‘How do you achieve your goals as a professional athlete?’. This week, I’ll be sitting down with Clifford Starks (https://cliffordstarks.com/).Former professional MMA fighter in 2009-2017. For him it has always been more than just transforming the body though, the mind and spirit play key factors to one’s success. He learned this through his journey as a fighter and a coach. He feels honored to be given the opportunity to work with many clients on their mind, body, and spirit. Helping others live happier more fulfilled lives. He realized just how important the mind was in the process of accomplishing any real success. He became extremely fascinated with psychology and also had his personal life experience to pull from as well. Always learning and growing which drives his mindset. He admires the saying, ‘if knowledge was all it took, everyone would have 6 packs and be Millionaires. He believes knowledge is good to have, but applied knowledge is better, so he continues to take action. To grow as a person and a leader is the same as health: you never stop. Tune in as we discuss; What mindset is necessary to achieve your goals? Why do professional athletes have a 7th gear? What are the habits that are needed? And we go through the methods, skills and practices to achieve our goals. Stay tuned to the end of the episode where Clifford shares an exciting finding and to find out how you can join the conversation on the Get To Know You Café.

Ep 116. What are the discrete skills needed to learn anything? with Founder of Greg Mat

1h 2m · Published 24 Jan 19:00

On this episode of GET TO KNOW YOU, we discuss another thought-provoking topic; ‘What are the discrete skills needed to learn anything?’. This week, I’ll be sitting down with Greg Mat. He is the founder of gregmat.com, an affordable test prep website seeking to make material and live classes affordable to all at $5 a month. The website has been up and running for only a year, but things are picking up steam and genuine inroads being made in this ultra-competitive industry. To be fair, he is not as cynical as most people are regarding these much-hated tests. On some days, he even finds them fun. But he does believe that we don't exactly approach education in the right manner and that interested parties are far too eager to take advantage of people simply trying to achieve their dreams. Tune in as we discuss skills for learning efficiently, active techniques, can you improve your reasoning and is that considered intellect. Stay tuned to the end of the episode to find out how you can join the conversation on the Get To Know You Cafe.
