1h 10m · Published 30 Jan 08:52

How come it is that once we're married it seems like the topic of sex is abandoned? There are so many lies surrounding sex and marriage that Michael and I didn't really blink at the idea of covering it on the Rise & Climb Podcast. While I'm surprised he says some of the things he did, I think this was the funnest interview I've ever had with my man! I hope you enjoy!

Eleazar Michael's Birth Story: Rise & Climb A Home Birth Story

47m · Published 21 Nov 10:30

Our 5th pregnancy, 4th full-term baby kept us on our toes. With contractions starting around 24 weeks I NEVER imagined I'd be overdue, let alone go '8 days overdue'.

Michael and I share the story of how his name came to be, what we learned in our time leading up to the birth and dealing with fears, the last month of anticipation, and then the actual birth!

As promised, here is the birth video I made:

From Teacher To Homeschool Advocate Part 2: A Rise & Climb Journey Of Turning A Question Into A Quest Of Purpose

42m · Published 03 Oct 09:00

We are back for part 2. We pick up on learning a little more about Tina's journey of discovering their homeschool style as she also explains the different types of styles to us. Then we go into the book Tina wrote;8 Great Smarts for Homeschoolers! And finish up with Tina explaining more about her website and tools found on: https://www.homeschoolroadmap.org/

I apologize for the audio changes as I am working on some new strategies to obtain a more fluid sound. Thank you for your patience!

TINA HOLLENBECK BIO:
Tina and her husband Jeff educated their Irish-Twin daughters from home for the girls' whole lives, graduating them together in Spring 2020. Tina began actively advocating for homeschooling parents in March 2013, with the creation of her free curriculum database, The Homeschool Resource Roadmap. From that foundation, she subsequently created other resources, including a homeschool-parent resource center for home educators in her local area and an online discussion group that connects Christian homeschoolers across the country. She's also written a book,8 Great Smarts for Homeschoolers, published by Moody Publishers in August 2021. When not thinking or talking about homeschooling, Tina cheerleads for her husband, daughters, and son-in-law; laughs at her cats' antics; cherishes the opportunity to serve on her church's worship team; and dotes on her first grandchild, born in December 2022.

Resources:

  • Tina's website: https://www.homeschoolroadmap.org/
  • Israel Wayne has several books for homeschoolers, includingEducation: Does God Have an Opinion? He is a homeschool grad (his mom homeschooled his siblings and him before it was legal as a single mom!) and current homeschool dad himself.

From Teacher To Homeschool Advocate: A Rise & Climb Journey Of Turning A Question Into A Quest Of Purpose

31m · Published 19 Sep 09:01

Today we join Tina Hollenbeck. Author of 8 Great Smarts for Homeschoolers and creator of The Homeschool Resource Roadmap. This podcast was originally recorded as 1 interview which I split up into 2 parts.

The first part covers Tina's story and how she got into homeschooling after being a teacher for many years. Throughout her story we learn that the journey that led her to creating the Homeschool Resource Roadmap actually started off as a 'little' personal project jumpstarted from Common Core making an appearance.

Don't stop there though, be sure to stick around for part 2 as we go into the different styles of homeschooling and the book she wrote; 8 Great Smarts for Homeschoolers!

Biking For Babies: Biking For A Cause To Raise Money For Pregnancy Resource Centers

44m · Published 11 Apr 09:30

Today's interview is with Nikki, the Executive Director of the non-profit organization, Biking For Babies. An organization established in 2009, that helps young adults bike across the country for life. They share their joy in sacrificing for the sake of others, others who they may never meet.

While it may seem that someone in NIkki's position may have grown up in a pro-life family and was always looking for a bigger call, this isn't the case. Nikki's faith and position on this topic didn't begin until college and even as the main bread winner for the family, never envisioned herself walking away from a successful career to be a missionary, where she raises her own salary to support life for others.

Perhaps you find yourself settled on your thoughts and feelings towards the pro-life/pro-choice topic or maybe your open to new ideas, stories, and ways to be involved? Either way, I invite you in on this interview to learn about an incredibly unique way to support women, babies, and families right in your community!

What Michael & I Do To Stay Connected In Marriage: Rise & Climb Marriage Edition

52m · Published 28 Mar 09:48

I jokingly saved this episode 'how Michael and I are perfect in our marriage'. We both laughed because any of the strengths we have probably came from a fight, a looooooong time of silence and division, and/or our weaknesses. We aren't perfect, but we are authentic and love to share what helps us in hopes it can help you! As we highlight in the end, if you want to love your kids, love your spouse!

Here's to Rising and Climbing in your marriage!

When Pain Becomes Passion: Rise & Climb With David & Kaitlyn

51m · Published 17 Jan 12:25

David & Kaitlyn, owners of Atlas Strength & Wellness join me today sharing their journey of taking detours from their original career pursuits to opening up their own fitness and health business.

Through a near death experience with ulcerative colitis, David detoured from becoming a missionary pilot to navigating his health and eventually finding his purpose.

Kaitlyn, always having a passion for the health and fitness world, learned how over training and stress can play a vital role and it was through her low of lows that she was awakened to her passion and drive to serve their present day clients.

I love how their story highlights the Rise & Climb vision that we may be called to hard things and while it's not easy, there is no other climb you would choose to be on.

If you are someone who has wondered if there is more out there in terms of a career or leaving a comfortable job to go into business for yourself you may find this interview speaking to your soul!

I love this couple dearly and hope you do as well!
