1h 25m · Published 26 Jun 03:00

Hey Everyone,

Welcome to episode five of the Two Coach Confidence podcast. Our aim with this podcast is to bring fun and interesting guests from all areas and walks of life to share their knowledge, stories and experiences of this mystical and subjective topic we refer to as confidence.

In today's episode we are joined by International DJ and producer Claire Spooner. Claire has DJ’d at a variety of the world's largest clubs and festivals including the Ministry of Sound and The Burning Man. Claire shares her journey from playing international badminton, to playing professional football for Aston Villa, to sports science lecturer, and now flying around the globe to DJ in front of thousands of music fans.

In this episode, we talk about,

  • How Claire taught herself to DJ whilst working full time as a sports science lecturer and how she eventually gave up lecturing to become an International DJ.
  • We explore Claire's definition of confidence, and how Claire believes there is overlap between, confidence, motivation and determination.
  • We have a conversation about growing and nurturing confidence, and how our environment and thoughts play a huge role in the process.
  • Claire shares her thoughts about how confidence can feed on itself in both positive and negative directions.
  • How setting goals is a massive part of her life and how this has supported the growth of her confidence in specific areas.
  • How Claire doubts herself a lot, and that in her mind she questions whether or not this is a female thing.
  • We explore the personal risks Claire experiences of putting her work out into the world and how she overcomes her self doubt.
  • We discuss how self doubt could be the alter ego of confidence and how understanding this could help how we manage our own confidence.
  • That Claire still gets nervous regardless of the event and what that tells her about herself and her work.

If you’re a listener who regularly says to yourself that you’re just not a confident person, then this episode will not disappoint! Claire is warm hearted, vulnerable and honest about the personal development she has done, and continues to do, in order to perform in an industry that has predominantly been dominated by males and have a lifestyle that many of us dream of.
