Hush the Inner Bully: Shifting to an Empowering Mindset that Fosters a Thriving Business and Marriage with Shawn Douglass

28m · Published 25 Mar 11:00

There's an inner voice in all of us that likes to judge and compare ourselves. It's constantly comparing us with other people.

Maybe it started as a way to protect ourselves from the outside world, or maybe we picked up on it from the people around us. Either way, this voice is no longer doing us good, and is only holding us back from achieving more in our lives.

Examine that voice! What is it saying when you’re beaten down and in pain? Do you feel protected at all, hearing that voice?

Wouldn’t you think that if you let other people talk to you like how THAT inner bully talks to you, you’d probably throw a punch at them?

That’s how bad things are in your mind and honestly…this has GOT to GO!

It’s time to shush that judgmental and condescending inner bully, and rise up to achieve the success that you deserve!

Let’s hear what Shawn Douglass has to say about transforming that inner bully into a supportive and empowering voice that will lead you to success!

Shawn is an Entrepreneur, Mindset Coach, and Co-Founder of The Growth Lab. He has been helping entrepreneurs achieve the business growth and ultimately, business success that they desire by creating a safe space – where exploration and opportunities are realized without being encumbered by judgment – within his clients’ minds.

Shawn believes that in order to reach our dreams, we have to keep moving forward. In accepting who and where we are in life, we orient ourselves towards the direction of forward and beyond.

We have the capacity to change our mind and heart every single day in order to be better versions of ourselves tomorrow than what we are today. This is the self-love that we all need.

Self-love need not be selfish! Giving ourselves the love and respect that we need sparks positive changes. And by constantly committing to create these improvements in our lives, we become better suited to serve and impact the world!

What are strategies to turn that bully into a productive and supportive part of you? What The Growth Lab have uniquely in store for entrepreneurs?

What You Need to Know About The 3 PILLARS of LIFE Directly Affecting Business and Marriage with Don and Kimmi Abad

33m · Published 18 Mar 11:00

Life is like a delicate structure…

And where structures are concerned, they’re only as strong as the pillars and foundation supporting them.

Unfortunately, our society is too focused on seeking instant gratification! A lot of us skimp on foundational work in favor of putting up flimsy facades.

“Quick and Easy” is just never short of demand. Marketers abuse these words and slap it on every website, packaging, YouTube and Facebook videos, blog articles, among other marketing collaterals for almost every product imaginable…and people STILL keep falling for it!

What’s tragic is that this phenomenon has even made its way to affecting businesses and marriages.

“Why work hard when there are easy money-making schemes?”

“Why invest in a partner when you can find replacements on Tinder?”

WHY? Because as much as people crave immediate satisfaction, what everyone TRULY desires deep down is LIFE-LONG happiness and NOT some SHORT-LIVED rendezvous.

Which is why we’re fortunate to be joined by Don and Kimmi Abad, who are here to share how investing in Faith, Family, and Freedom – the 3 Pillars of Life – is your ticket to the life that you desire!

Don is a filmmaker, and Kimmi was a dancer and school teacher, now a full-time mom. Together, they are engaged in business that started in the network marketing space.

As artists, they were met with the challenge of not knowing how to monetize their art. By leveraging their resources in the direct-selling space, they were able to make full use of their skills and talents to create valuable content that continue to positively impact the lives of many people.

Besides business, they also had to face challenges in their marriage. By building their life upon strong values and foundations, this amazing couple plowed through trial after trial, and are now living the life of their dreams!

How exactly are the 3 Pillars relevant to your business and marriage? What makes the network marketing space a great avenue for starting a business? How should we really utilize mainstream media to further our goals?

How Investing in Customer Retention is the Bang for Buck Marketing You Need to Grow Your Business with Swire Ho

38m · Published 11 Mar 12:00

Clients and customers aren’t tools to push your business forward. They’re people!

Quite frankly, most business owners struggle with this idea. And often, entrepreneurs care more for their businesses than they’d care for their customers and employees. It’s a ridiculous reverse paradigm in which these very entrepreneurs tend end up losing more than they wanted to make.

We’ve seen it time and again, entrepreneurs putting in the effort to rake in new customers, all the while taking for granted their old clients, effectively treating people like expendable tools to move their businesses. This is NO WAY to go about growing your business.

Thankfully, we’ve got Swire Ho to show us how it should be done!

Swire Ho, AKA The Promo Guy, is the Cofounder of Garuda Promo and Branding Solutions, a promotional merchandise company.

On the day of his honeymoon, Swire found out that the company he worked for went under and he was out of a job. And so, his path to business was more forced than planned, but he didn’t regret a single step of the way! He was joined by his wife as a business partner. Today, He helps companies grow their sales, and retain employees and customers alike, through custom branded products.

Swire believes growing your business all about building trust with your customers and it takes time to do this. This doesn’t magically happen, and definitely NOT overnight. It takes careful planning and there’s a need to invest in your customers – you need to see people as PEOPLE!

One brilliant way you can build trust is by creating TRUE Transformations that will take a customer away from their pain point and towards the happy state that they desire! Isn’t that what we ALL want as humans?

Like we mentioned, it’s not an overnight deal. It takes time – every hour, minute, and second – that’s all going to be worth it as you make loyal customers who will potentially support your business until the end of time.

How is putting more into customer retention a better investment than getting new clients? What are the most effective strategies to implement for customer retention?

Tune in to learn more about highly effective customer retention ideas and strategies to grow your business, and creating transformations in customers that also transforms your own life, business and marriage!

Overcoming Challenges through Accountability in Business and Relationships with Kaid Collins and Olivia Coffman

36m · Published 04 Mar 12:00

Entrepreneurship and marriage are two of the most rewarding things you could ever have. Both will give you a sense of accomplishment and contentment, both will make you feel proud to be able to say that your business is yours and your partner is yours to love and cherish.

It’s strange though, that for something heavily coveted, whether it be business or marriage, people act like the work starts after deals and promises are made, and after contracts are signed.

Thing is, both of these start WAY BEFORE you drag pen over paper…

Entrepreneurship and marriage begin when you conceive plans for them, and when you put in the work to accomplish the small goals that will get you to where you plan to be.

For Kaid Collins and Olivia Coffman, everything started in a small café within the University of Oregon campus.

Olivia was a sophomore working at the student café. On the other hand, Kaid was a senior who frequented the café after working out at the rec center. Kaid always ordered a custom salad, with 3 scoops of black beans, for which Olivia secretly referred to him as “Three Bean”.

One faithful evening, Olivia unexpectedly ran into Kaid, wherein she blurted out her codename for him. Mortified, she tried to run away, unsuccessfully as Kaid pulled her hand to ask an explanation for the strange name. Brows were raised, explanations were given, and a week after, they started dating.

This coming June 10, 2022, they’re about to tie the knot!

This special day would not have been possible if not for the preparation and hard work they put in place. This power couple went through long distance, career changes, business ventures, among other exciting but challenging phases in their life, each of which they conquered through accountability!

“Take care of you for me, I’ll take care of me for you”, a powerful promise that Kaid and Olivia made to each other years back, knowing that 2 sinking ships can’t help each other. Staying afloat for themselves but never by themselves, Kaid and Olivia have grown strong in business, and soon, stronger in marriage!

Why is Kaid “Accountability King” and Olivia, “Challenge Queen”? What’s Accountability Deposit? How did 100-day challenges lead the couple to their successful businesses and loving relationship today?

Tune in to learn more about accountability, leveraging challenges, and the 7 measures for growth and success, all working to build strong businesses and stronger marriages!

Turn Your Struggles Upside Down

10m · Published 11 Feb 12:00

Think of sharing your struggles with your spouse as an investment in your marriage.

It’s not about piling on to your partner’s problems…

It’s about two people and their combined strength, overcoming challenges together, in order to improve their relationship and raise their quality of life.

We each have our own problems. You’ve got a “boulder” in your way and so does your spouse.

Alone, it’s likely that neither of you can move those out of your way. Assuming you can, you’d most likely have spent more time and energy getting the job done (needlessly).

If you worked together, removing one obstacle after the other, you’d both be free from your burdens in no time!

The problem is that a lot of couples aren’t inclined to share their struggles for fear of piling on to their partner’s troubles.

(Because who wants to do that?)

Though the intention is good, the consequence of keeping your problems to yourself are less likely to be.

In keeping your problems to yourself, you take away the opportunity for your partner to help you out, create a stronger bond with you, and strengthen your marriage.

Life may be difficult, but when we can do the hard things with people who genuinely love us and care for us, we give ourselves (and our partners) a better chance to endure hardships.

The question is: where do you begin?

How do you turn struggles upside down? What are creative ways to turn bad experiences into good ones? How can couples effectively tackle each other’s problems?

Tune in to learn more about sharing your struggles with your partner, turning bad experiences into date night, and improving your relationship to benefit your business and marriage.

Significant Life Transformations in Fitness and Relationships with David and Jenna Harris

30m · Published 04 Feb 12:00

There are no perfect marriages nor businesses!

But there are awesome moments of opportunities that we can capitalize on and inspire stronger marriage and business relationships.

For David and Jenna that opportunity started way back in college, after David moved next door to Jenna. After one awesome reggae concert where they walked together after their roommates left them, their lives changed.

3 kids and 3 dogs later, David and Jenna stand strong today, but not without facing challenges.

During the time David fell ill and was diagnosed with asthma, among other physical complications, things became harder for him and his family. He became easily exhausted, couldn’t spend much time with his wife and kids, and doing business became difficult.

It was in this moment where Jenna stepped up by being more understanding, more loving and caring, as she helped and supported David take back his health.

In this journey, this power couple went through a significant transformation that transcended the value of physical changes.

Not only was David able to lose the weight, regain normal breathing capacities, and take back his health, the journey sparked a business that allowed both David and Jenna to give back to the community by helping others reclaim their own lives from illnesses and obesity, while fostering great relationships.

Together, David and Jenna provide Fitness and Relationship Coaching that takes a holistic approach towards improving quality of life.

As entrepreneurs, we grind to serve our clients, and despite good intentions, our families become 2nd place, our health disappears, self-care and activity decreases. Unless you are intentional about stopping, these occurrences can make our lives, marriage, and business challenging.

In order to be intentional, David and Jenna teach their students to prioritize what needs to be done, wearing 1 hat at a time, and giving each role 100% effort. Besides setting priorities, changing the mindset is equally important in order to target the root causes of the challenges we face, and ultimately build stronger businesses and marriages.

Tune in to learn more about leveraging a holistic approach towards significant life transformations that build better health, strong businesses, and stronger marriages.

Lifting the Community and Building Strong Family Support With Carrie and Matt Cox

27m · Published 28 Jan 12:00

Our society thrives on strong families.

A family teaches us how to function in the world. It should provide love and warmth to all of its members. A strong family gives its members the support they need to make it through life’s toughest spots.

Matt and Carrie Cox, a married couple that lives in Henderson, Nevada, were tied together not just because of their love for each other but because of their love of God and their desire to serve their community.

They met in a daycare center after having both unsuccessful marriages. Matt and Carrie have children of their own but brought their two families together to have one wonderful family.

Same as normal families, they also faced challenges, but by relying on each other, they have built strong family support.

Because of a personal childcare challenge way back when Carrie’s second daughter was in severe medical condition, she developed a passion in taking care of children.

The couple then decided to give back and pay it forward to their community as their daughter survived the medical condition by the grace of God.

Being in the same Church as Matt and Carrie, we believe in the principle of “Lifting where you stand”.  And it does mean lifting–we all have something we can do to serve, and it will not happen unless we decide ourselves to do it.

It is willingness to be someone else’s support and striving to fill the capacity people need to be met. To look out for opportunities to serve our neighbors–our co-workers, our friends, and our families.

The strength of community lies in the strength of the connections that we have with each other. And with strong connections, people have the power to make real change.

Tune in to learn more about lifting the community, and building strong family support for a strong business and stronger marriage.

Acknowledging imperfections with compassion and purpose with Jonathan McLernon

41m · Published 21 Jan 12:00

There’s beauty in imperfections and too few realize this!

On the surface, social standards would make people think twice about showing imperfections.

However, when the focus is on the true purpose for these so-called imperfections, you start to see the beauty.

For Jonathan McLernon, it took a traumatic experience of being attacked and nearly beaten to death, back when he and his wife were nomadic English teachers, to really appreciate his imperfections.

As a result of that trauma, Jonathan turned to binge eating to address his emotional distress, and became morbidly obese.

He started hating his body, garnered all sorts of insecurities, and he blamed his big heart for feeling so many confusing and painful emotions, which led to pushing his wife away.

Despite his attempts to create distance, his wife decided to close any gaps by becoming even more committed to their marriage. When Jonathan learned to open up, they were able to have compassionate conversations that brought their marriage to the next level.

At the same time, Jonathan continued to improve his life by addressing his obesity.

After many failed attempts at losing weight through different programs, he finally met someone who understood him. Jonathan was shown compassion and was taught self-compassion, through which he worked on healing his relationship with himself and his body.

Currently, Jonathan owns a nutrition supplements store, is an online nutrition coach who focuses on “brain-driven weight loss”, and he mentors other coaches on how to build sustainable businesses.

Jonathan leverages the marks left by obesity to remind himself of his potential, and he has learned to embrace his empathic nature, allowing him to deliver powerful and authentic messages that resonate and build strong relationships with his clients.

Tune in to learn more about working to accomplish your purpose, appreciating your imperfections, and employing compassion for a strong business and stronger marriage.

Applying Mathematics for Lasting and Loving Relationships with Coach Tina and Dr. Willis Jenkins

35m · Published 14 Jan 12:00

Sir Isaac Newton’s first law of motion is pretty much applicable in business and marriage!

The law states that anything at rest will continue to stay at rest, unless acted upon by an outward force that cause it to move. Anything moving will continue towards its trajectory, unless a force acts upon it causing it to stop or change direction.

In any business or marriage, people tend to get stuck or are headed towards the wrong direction. Altering your circumstances can prove difficult on your own, but with help from your spouse, family, or business partners, you can direct your life and business towards your goals.

As wonderful creations of God, we all come with many talents and potentials and with these, it’s not impossible to reach our dreams. We just need the right push!

That’s exactly what Coach Tina FJ and Dr. Willis J have come to understand regarding business and marriage!

Coach Tina and Dr. Willis both worked for NASA on multiple projects, including rockets, satellites, and robotic arms on space stations. They understand perfectly the concepts of energy and collision and how those can be used to launch rockets off the ground and up into space.

Years in the industry and in marriage, they’ve learned that the same principles (among other mathematical principles) can be used to launch your business and marriage in an upward trajectory.

With the hopes of positively impacting the lives of others by pushing them towards the right direction, Coach Tina and Dr. Willis co-authored their book “The Mathematics of Marriage” – 3 easy steps and fun formulas to enjoy a long loving relationship.

Each chapter contains bible principles relevant to the topic, stories that couples can relate to, principles that foster long loving relationships, and mathematical formula that help convey the messages of each chapter!

Tune in to learn more about harnessing positive energy, tapping into your potential, and using math to build strong businesses and stronger marriages!
