13: Hope with Donna Thistlethwaite

37m · Published 27 Nov 11:00

I found my conversation with Donna so moving as we discuss her darkest of days when she wanted to end her life to her recovery and the thriver that she is today

In 2012 Donna jumped 30 metres from an Australian bridge in an attempt to end her life. At the time she was experiencing career challenges fuelled by feelings of self-doubt and worthlessness.

Her actions shocked those who knew her and who regarded her as a competent human resource professional and a friendly, enthusiastic person.

Donna journeyed from breakdown to receiving an ‘Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ in 2016 and found her purpose in career coaching and speaking.

Donna shares her story to help others understand that failure does not need to define us and that there are strategies that can be successfully used to create a fulfilling and happy life.

Some key points from our interview:

  • How when she heard that if she had completed suicide that the odds that her son would try it too changed everything for her
  • How she felt alive when she first shared her story
  • How she feels that finding her voice saved her and hopes it helps others too
  • How she uses six daily practices that have totally shifted her life

32m · Published 11 Nov 11:00

Richard's story is quite unbelievable!!  He was starring in a stage show and was going through a parallel process in his own life that bore a very strong resemblance.  You really couldn't make this up!

He has worked as an actor for over 30 years and has spent most of that time in front of a camera. He continues to have an exciting and prolific career in Film and Television, appearing in many high-profile productions such as Game Of Thrones, The Batman Trilogy and Netflix’s drama, The Last Czars and the upcoming drama Industry, amongst many others.

His theatre work has seen him working with some of the country’s best talent and he has appeared in many West End Theatre productions, most recently as the lead in MAMMA MIA!

As a voice-over artist, he has an international reputation and his voice can be heard in numerous BBC Radio 4 plays, Video Games and TV Commercials.

Coaching is his passion. He has taught Voice and Communication skills and Camera Technique across the UK and even as far as India. He is both at home, working with large corporate clients and small businesses.

Some key points from our interview:

  • How he felt unsettled when he started to think about what adoption actually meant
  • How he didn't have his birth mother's address when she travelled to Australia to try and find her
  • How the search for his real father put him through a stressful time and felt like he was in an emotional turmoil
  • How he had to process a lot of pain and sadness
  • How he had to come to terms with the "twist" in his adoption story
  • How that everything he does in life comes from a place of love

10: Healing Her Health with Khristee Rich

36m · Published 08 Nov 17:00

In this episode I  speak to Khristee Rich who after a chronic illness, with no seeming easy or workable answers, decided she had to be her own health advocate.

And what a journey that turned out to be.

Esoteric to exotic, she tried the lot, and learned heaps along the way!

She is a holistic healer and spiritual teacher who works with empaths/highly sensitive women and creatives to overcome their greatest pain from chronic illness, chronic pain, abuse, and trauma so that they can live their life greatest joy and live a life beyond their wildest dreams.

With her Reiki/shamanism blend and skills being clairvoyant, a medium, and an empath, she inspires and empowers her clients to be their own health advocate, to persevere, and to dream big so that they can step out from behind the curtain and joyfully live the life they were meant to live.

Some key points from our interview:

  • How she experienced 15 years of misdiagnosis and no answers to her illness
  • How after doing her own research it only took one month to treat and the symptoms to improve
  • How she healed herself and now uses these skills she learnt to help other women to heal themselves
  • How she is passionate about empowering other women to improver their quality of life
  • How she discovered that the holistic approach using mind, body and spirit gave her the best results and healed her

8: Laughter is the best medicine! with Colin G Higgins

49m · Published 08 Nov 17:00

In this episode I speak to the courageous Colin G Higgins, who was groomed and abuse by two paedophiles when he was a young teenager.

They joked about murdering a woman and he knew that he couldn't keep quiet, so he became a whistle blower which led to their conviction, so that no one else would have to suffer like he did

He believes that Laughter Truly Is the Best Medicine!, and is a stand up comic.

He  is a relative newcomer to stand-up but has been on the comedy scene for many years behind the scenes. Colin runs the comedy club Jesters at Jimmy's in Park Bar, Glasgow and appeared in the documentary on Billy Connolly for BBC Scotland in 2020 titled 'Billy and Us'

Some key points from our interview:

  • How he was instrumental in the conviction of the two paedophiles that had murdered a woman, when he went to the police
  • How he recognises that he became self destructive due to the abuse and trauma he experienced as a teenager
  • How he realised he was not the only boy being abused by these men
  • How when he heard their threats made towards his mother his anger and fear made him realise that he had to tell someone
  • How he discovered that therapy is not easy but so worthwhile
