How to Break the Cycle of Poor Eating Habits with Toye Penny

37m · Published 13 Aug 16:00

Toye Penny's Story

Six years ago, I was at the height of my career when I sold my luxury day spa. On the outside, I was successful, financially flexible, and created a great lifestyle as a single mom. But on the inside, I felt overworked, exhausted, and a sense of emptiness.

Daily trips to the drive-throughs to fit eating into my busy life made me feel sluggish, and even worse, my poor habits trickled down to my daughter. Poor eating was affecting my performance as an entrepreneur and a mom.

One night I found myself feeding my daughter a chili hot dog and chips for dinner while I scarfed down 4 slices of cold pizza that I was too tired to warm up. It was then I realized there needed to be a shift. Unhealthy leftovers and unbalanced meals could no longer be our story. I immediately searched for a nutrition school and was enrolled one month later.

I studied nutrition for one year and realized that my eating was directly tied to other health areas of my life. I also realized that my lifestyle was a primary source of nutrition and my eating was just a secondary source. Unresolved issues from childhood trauma were manifesting through my food and lifestyle habits. My primary and secondary foods were unbalanced.

I TRULY believe that When you take care of yourself... mind, body, spirit, soul and eating, everything else begins to fall in place.
