A Letter From Me To Me - Episode 40

10m · Published 13 Dec 03:36

A letter to me, from me.

-----

Hey younger, Shane.

It’s me, the man you dreamt you’d be (kinda haha).

The man you didn’t know you wanted to be.

I know that you’ve got lots of questions.

I once asked em all too - Hell, I’m you! (haha)

I’ve came here to give you my point of view.

My view on life, to try and help you calm that tornado you’ve been living through.

I’ll try and convince you that even though you can’t see it right now, all of these experiences will be all worth it. Spoiler alert - You’ll have a wife who loves you, a baby girl who adores you and that’s all that will ever truely matter. Please don’t ever forget that part.

Yep, I know, right now all you’re doing is trying to impress a bunch of people in your life and survive the nights so that you can see the sunrise of tomorrow. This is draining and oh so exhausting, but, right  now, it’s a necessity to get to a much better place. I’m proud of you, hang in there.

Oh, I also know that feeling!

That vice you feel in your chest…

That pressure inside your head..

That feeling of suffocation…..

I wish I could tell you I’ve found a way to manage it. I haven’t.

To be honest, you haven’t even felt the half of it yet.

For that, I’m sorry, I'll keep working on it, I promise.

I can see you now. I can see your 14 year old face.

I know you want relief from your stress.

You’re sitting in your room, headphones blaring to drown out the sound of the day, to help drain away and muffle out the screaming in the lounge room. I can see your doors shut, in an attempt to block out all the things on the other side.

The drama, the drugs, the life - I get it, you’re only 14 years old, how else can you escape.…

I know you’re doing your best, I know those people beyond the door are also trying to do their best, they just don’t know any better. It’s not anything YOU did.

I feel your insecurities, the negativity in your head.

I wish I could help, but it’s hard to help, when what you’re about to go through will make the man talking to you right now.

I feel a little hopeless, but I can’t help. It wouldn’t be right to.

You’re about to learn a lot of skills, gain knowledge about life and have many experiences - this is life, do the best you can.

I see the tears in your eyes.

Please know, you’re not the only one who’s lonely. It’s ok to be sad. Don’t hide it, talk to someone.

Them late nights laying in your room thinking if anyone notices that you’re even here, will one day turn into you laying on your amazing and talented daughters bed, chatting to her for hours about “stuff”. You’ll never want these moments to end.

You’ll wake from this nightmare soon, you’ll feel less lost, less abandoned, less fearful of life. The anxiety will peak and taper off. That's normal - treat it life a gift.

Because it's all ok, you’ll wake to a dream life. A perfect life.

People will tell you daily that, without you, they wouldn’t be the same. That you changed their lives, inspired and motivated them.

That you were there for them when they found things hard, you’ll be there for them with a ready ear and heart full of empathy and all this, comes from what you’re about to go through. It has a purpose, trust it.

Strap in, hang on tight, this is for all of them people out there.

The ones reading this and nodding along.

This is your hand held high, knowing that life threw its punches and although you had to take a knee a few times and a helping hand from others to get to your feet, you were never down for the count.

You’re doing it for yourself but at the same time, helping the people.

There’s strength to be learned here.

It’s sad to hear, I know.

However, it’s the journey, and it’s OK. You’ll be ok.

I love you.

Shane.

I don't know who needs to hear this!? - Episode 39

Was this for you?

Was this the sign you've been waiting for?

Know What You Want - Episode 38

2m · Published 03 Nov 03:27

Don't hang around low level people.

These people will only add to a low level vibe.

Focus on what you want.

Think big, seek people to be around that believe in you, that inspire you.

Do I really want to live for ever? - Episode 37

11m · Published 14 Oct 03:45

There is a lot of beauty in life and having  no expiry date may mean that we lose a lot of the magic.

Hear my thoughts on what I think I want instead of being able to live forever.

Suffering Comes From Resistance - Episode 36

16m · Published 16 Sep 02:36

Suffering comes from resistance.
Lately, I've been suffering from the resistance to the new world that's forming around me.
I've been resisting the changes and getting caught up on all the negativity within the news, the people, the world at large.

It's taken a toll on me.
To top all that off, the incredible changes in all our lives, with regards to isolation and segregation.

The "Us Vs Them" - mentality.

My resistance to everything and what has and will happen to the world around me, was only creating suffering to me.
I needed to stop suffering, so I did a few things to help get my headspace back and I wanted to share what I did personally to help with the issues I was facing daily.

Acceptance - Accept that "this it is, what it is" and this can't happen any other way because this is how it happened.
I can not change what has occurred (in the short term), nor what has been done. I only have choice over what I do in the present moment.
Projecting my worry, fear and my thoughts forward into the future, is only causing me anxiety and sadness.

Change - Changing my daily habits. Make new ones, stronger and healthier habits.
Habits that are the complete opposite to what I've been turning to each day. No more lazing about in a pity party made for one.

Leave - Leave alone the things I kept picking up that got me feeling so down. For me, that was the news and Social Media.
I had to leave alone what was causing my stress. Like an alcoholic must leave alone the beers or watching the adds on TV that trigger them to buy booze. I too, had to leave a lone the things my mind was attaching itself to. Going onto some social media platforms left me confused, scared and stressed. I had to not allow that to be my mind state anymore.

These were some of the things I have chosen to do to get back on a path that's not so self destructive.
A path that once I build, I can help myself, which in turn gives me the power to help others too.

In health and happiness,
Coach Shane.

1 Million Dollars - Episode 35

9m · Published 29 Aug 21:00

How excited on a rating of 1 - 10 are you to wake up each day?

Be honest

If gave you one million dollars tomorrow, would you be excited?

If i gave you one million dollars, but told you you could never wake up again, wold you take the money?

You see, your life is work MORE than money.
You know how valuable your life is?

Start changing your perspective because with your life comes amazing opportunity.

Your Expiry Date - Episode 34

7m · Published 25 Aug 03:03

One day you'll buy a bottle of milk with an expiry date you won't see...
--

Let that sink in and then change your behaviour and have better, deeper and more connected interactions with those around you.

Life is short, its ok, it can be, so long as we play every minute in the game of life knowing we gave it our all.

In health and happiness.
Coach Shane

EP 33: Progress Not Perfection.

7m · Published 16 Aug 05:12

Stop using perfection as a procrastination tool.

Good work is better than NO work.
Making progress is better than not making progress due to your own harsh, subjective ideas, of what perfection is.

This week, focus on creating PROGRESS over worrying about perfections.

EP32: Stop Living Other Peoples Lives

17m · Published 12 Aug 05:30
Are you living the life of someone else? What do I mean? Well, have you unwillingly adopted the goals and aspirations of your parents, your partners, your friends? All through life we grow up with these influences and sometimes we get to a point where we look back at our lives and realise that this is not what we wanted for ourselves. In fact, we’re living someone else’s life altogether. It's important understand what you want from life, where you want to go, how you want to feel and really track back to your true self. What's your purpose, your passion? What makes you live a happy life? The questions can be hard and overwhelming at first but it's important to get to the root of the life you deserve to live.
