#130 Tianna Tye on How to Hire, Manage, and Lead Your Dream Team

1h 9m · Published 30 Jul 16:00

Do you feel like it’s time to hire a team for your business but have no idea how all these other entrepreneurs online are making it look easy?

Maybe you see your favorite business owner announcing that they have brought on yet another team member to help them scale and raving about the value of “outsourcing,” while you‘re having a tough time managing your own schedule, let alone a small team of 1-3.

Here’s an industry secret... it’s hard for them to manage their teams too!

No one does it alone - hiring, team-building, and leadership skills are essential to creating your vision, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. (I’d say hiring and scaling out my team has easily been one of the most challenging parts of my entrepreneurial journey so far - if not the most challenging. And it is the biggest struggle and behind-the-scenes complaint I hear from other entrepreneurs.)

If you’re feeling like good help is hard to find (or really any help is hard to find!), this week’s episode is for you.

Whether you’ve tried on management styles like the “chill” boss, or your former boss, or taken a few workshops here and there on team management, or even if you’ve never managed anyone before... I am excited to introduce you to this week’s Beyond Influential guest, I/O Psychologist, team-building expert, and leadership coach Tianna Tye.

Tianna has dedicated her career to helping online business owners build and lead the dream teams that can help their businesses scale and thrive! (She is also a specialist in remote teams—very relevant right now!) Her goal is to help creative entrepreneurs learn to lead their teams, less like the Devil Wears Prada, and more as the CEO they aspire to be in the future.

On Ep. 130, we cover:

  • Why hiring is such a difficult area for entrepreneurs and business owners
  • Best practices for hiring at any stage of your business (from solopreneur to full-scale)
  • How to make your team feel invested in you as a CEO—whether they are full-time employees or contractors
  • Virtual & Remote teams: Top tips to create a company culture & make everyone feel more connected
  • Being a Boss vs. Being a Leader:  What’s the difference and why it matters to your business
  • How to create a more diverse and inclusive team, hiring for your personality type, and more!

#128 Selling on Social Media: How to Organically Attract and Convert Your Ideal Clients and Customers with Madison Tinder

46m · Published 08 Jul 07:30

There’s more than one way to “sell” and you can find a way (or many ways) that works best for you.

Whether or not you are interested in buying the Business Bundle that is currently back for a very limited time (ends Saturday!), checking it out is a great way to see other entrepreneurs' sales processes. By looking at their products and funnels, you can get a sense of the variety of different sales styles and promotional approaches out there.

And one of the topics that I get asked about quite often is social selling, specifically how to sell on Instagram, which is why I’m excited to introduce you to this week’s Beyond Influential guest and fellow Bundle contributor, Madison Tinder. Madison is a marketing & visibility coach who helps female entrepreneurs sell and scale their businesses through organic techniques, particularly on Instagram. Madison’s bundle contribution, Mini Trainings for Profit, is all about selling your offers, products and services using Instagram stories to attract your target audience!

On Ep. 128, we cover:

  • How she found her first clients (Hint: I love Linkedin!)
  • How to find the right clients & customers for your business
  • Why it’s worth it to invest in yourself when growing a business
  • Her most effective strategies for launching and selling on social
  • Mini-trainings: why they work and how they support a launch
  • How to use Instagram stories to warm your audience to an upcoming offer and build trust
  • How to use a waitlist strategy to sell out your programs
  • Her approach to content creation, her brand and business evolution, sales mindset & more!

#127 Roberto Blake on Life as a Black Creator & Embracing Your Otherness as an Entrepreneur

1h 37m · Published 01 Jul 16:24

Before we get to this week’s episode, I have some very exciting news to share. The Business Bundle (which was 70+ courses for $100!) is officially coming back very, very soon, and it’s an even better deal than before.

I’m talking 90+ biz courses for ONLY $100! Total. Over $21K in programs!
(And for those of you who already purchased the Bundle, you’ll be getting all of the extra courses at no additional cost when this sale is launched.)

I’ve also mentioned before that it’s really important (and non-negotiable) to me that what I promote aligns with my values. If you listened to Episode 126 on Making Decisions When the Conversation is Bigger Than Your Business, I walked you through my decision to hold off on promotions for it last time around. Since then, a lot of work has been done behind the scenes by the bundle organizers and it shows. I wouldn’t be participating in this relaunch if I didn’t feel like work was being done and that it was done from a place of sincerity.

All of that being said, if you are interested in this Bundle, subscribe here for more details SOON. And now, for this week’s Beyond Influential…

Important conversations like this one are exactly why I love doing this podcast. I’m excited to welcome back my friend, YouTuber and video expert, Roberto Blake, who was one of my very first guests on Beyond Influential (all the way back on Episode 6!).  This week’s episode is a very open, honest, and candid conversation that came about organically around Roberto’s experience as a Black creator and entrepreneur, and really is a must-listen on empathy, understanding, and appreciating other perspectives. He also dropped some incredible business bombs!

On Ep. 127, we discuss:

  • Being Black in America: Assumptions, Systemic Racism & Unconscious Bias
  • Navigating mental health issues and Black Anxiety
  • The dangers of cancel culture, handling hate, and the feeling that you can’t win
  • Navigating difficult conversations about race and blackness
  • Embracing your “otherness” and how to use it to your advantage
  • Plus entrepreneurial gems on how to niche down, stand out, and more!

#126 Making Decisions When the Conversation is Bigger Than Your Business

27m · Published 22 Jun 17:59

Business has not been business as usual and I wanted to give you a very real-time, candid look behind-the-scenes of my business, and share my decision-making process over the last few weeks.

No one said being a business owner was easy and usually we think of long hours of “hustle,” but that’s just a small part of what it takes to build a meaningful brand. There are much weightier questions to ask yourself and decisions to make—from what you stand for, your values and mission, to who you truly want to serve and what kind of leader you want to be.

Sometimes your answers to those defining questions mean making the conscious choice to not sell or promote, even when you’ve put in the hard work, in order to do what is aligned with your long-term vision for your business.

On Ep. 126, I talk:

  • My support for Black Lives Matter, and how the movement has affected my business decisions, both now and moving forward
  • My recent affiliate launch: An inside look at the reasons and rationale behind my real-time decisions on selling and promoting The Business Bundle*
  • If you’re “called out:” How to respond to correction, criticism, and feedback thoughtfully
  • The importance of defining your values and sticking to them as a business owner
  • “Whiteness” and the lack of diversity in the online business and marketing world
  • When to address the world’s turmoil (however you define that) when selling and promoting in your business & more!

#123 How to Set Better Goals & Actually Achieve Them

15m · Published 14 May 07:15

If you started out the year with big plans for 2020 that have been thrown off track, you are not alone.

Goal setting usually isn’t the most popular topic in May, but it felt like the right time to bring it up with all of the shifts and changes going on for everyone at the moment.

This week’s Beyond Influential isn’t about making you feel guilty about not hitting the goals you set in January; it’s about giving yourself permission to change them, make new ones, and how to approach them in a way that sets you up for success.

If the last few months have left you feeling a little weird or off or low-energy… you are in good company.  This is not a time to be critical of yourself if things are not going the way you expected (they aren’t going the way anyone expected!).

Personally, I have been feeling the energy shifting right now as we have been processing what’s going on and are ready to talk about what’s next. It doesn’t matter if you’re interested in taking small steps or large ones - it’s about forward progress at whatever rate feels right to you.

On this short solo episode, I share the key principles behind setting goals that will make achieving the results you want much more likely. (And while I reference brand and business goals, these tips also apply to personal goals as well.)

On Ep. 123, I cover:

  • Permission to Pivot: Why it's ok to reprioritize and adjust your goals without guilt
  • Common mistakes I see when setting goals for your brand and business
  • How to approach goal setting strategically: What you need to consider & tips to help you achieve them
  • Why accountability is critical to actually reaching your goals, and more!

Because accountability is so important when it comes to achieving your goals, I want to challenge you to post one goal publicly–and make sure to tag me @brittanykrystle on Instagram or LinkedIn!

#122 Ashlyn Carter on Copy Strategies 7-Figure Earners Use To Make More Sales

1h 2m · Published 08 May 02:50

Ever wonder how the right words seem to come so effortlessly for some people? You open their emails and you actually want to keep reading… an email! You click on their website and now you want to buy a product or service you didn’t even know you were interested in. (Do you need it?! It doesn’t matter!)

If you’ve ever agonized over writing copy, whether it’s an Instagram caption or a sales page, you know the importance of getting your words right when communicating with your audience.

You’ve also probably noticed that coming up with the right words isn’t always easy. Here’s the reality: Writing copy that converts is not a skill set that comes naturally to most - they’ve had help, which is why I’m so excited to introduce you to this week’s Beyond Influential guest, launch and conversion copy expert and educator, Ashlyn Carter.

Ashlyn has worked with some of the biggest names in the creative entrepreneur community on their conversion copy - Jenna Kutcher, Amy Porterfield, Julie Solomon… just to name a few. She is a master in the art and science of crafting copy that gets an audience to buy, taking into account both the emotional and analytical when it comes to moving consumers.

I loved nerding out with her on this episode! We cover:

  • Her transition from a fast-paced career in PR to creating a business that prioritizes her physical and mental health
  • Niching down & why her business focuses on creative entrepreneurs
  • Conversion copywriting: What it is and why it’s essential for your business
  • Outsourcing your copy: When’s the right time and what to look at when hiring
  • Is your copy converting? The analytics that matter
  • Writing copy that converts: Tips & strategies on how to approach sales pages, launch copy, your website and more!

#121 The Biggest Personal Branding Mistake You Might Not Know You’re Making

14m · Published 01 May 19:57

Is this number one personal branding mistake what’s holding you back from getting the results you want?

On last week’s episode of Beyond Influential on Why Your Personal Brand Is Important: How to Make Yourself Recession-Proof, I touched on it briefly, but I wanted to dive deeper into this topic because it is often the difference between an audience of raving clients, customers, and content consumers... and crickets.

I’ll just cut to the chase: the biggest mistake I see over and over again with personal brands is a lack of clarity. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to the online space or a seasoned marketer, this is an area that most people don’t realize is the actual issue that needs to be addressed for them to achieve what they want with their personal brands.

The good news is clarity is something you can improve if you know what steps to take. If what you’re doing online isn’t working - that doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you or your product or service - it’s likely a communication issue that can be addressed with the right adjustments.

On Ep. 121, I cover:

  • What exactly is personal brand clarity & why it’s critical to getting results online
  • My Quick Clarity Assessment: What I look for when I evaluate a personal brand
  • Why not getting clear on your brand can be costly
  • The main reason clarity is difficult to achieve
  • The number one question your personal brand needs to answer & more!
