POLITE EXCLUSIVITY_AJOKE F. AREGBEYEN_DAY 16

Topic: POLITE EXCLUSIVITY

Guest: AJOKE F. AREGBEYEN

One of the experiences I had in the year 2020 was in the area of making friends. The lessons I learned was that when you meet people and you appear to share the same interest you engage in the same type of activities. It doesn't mean that your values are the same or the fact that they pledged to the same kind of values that you ascribe to all the approval of it. It doesn't mean that they uphold the same values in their lives or strive to keep them. People can be very, very different from who they proclaim to be, no matter how old or how experienced they appear to be. So no matter how perfecting since from the beginning and you meet people and it seems that you've known each other for a very long time. Take your time before giving them access to you as a friend.

Certain things should be earned. Take your time before opening up to them and take your time before being vulnerable to them. No matter how perfect you think um you guys are, you can't always know people's intentions with you when you just meet them. I know this sounds cliché but until it happens to you, you will not understand. So you can't always know people's intentions with you from the beginning from the get go. So take your time to really get to know them and allow them graduating that skill before they are sent to being who you call your friend who you are able to open up to and give all those privileges that you give to your friendsIf given another chance, what would I do?When I meet people for the first time, it's a great idea to be kind. It's a great idea to be welcoming. I'll be kind, I'll be welcoming, I'll be hospitable, but a lot of me will be on reserve. Uh, it will be kept for those who have earned it and I wouldn't be so hasty is to think I have the um, well I call it guts or instinct to know that, okay, this is the kind of person that this person fits into this kind of category. I feel I have a fair understanding of this person judging by what I've gotten to know about them um, during this short period of what they've told me. So it's not being rude, is not being unfriendly. We just have to allow people to earn the position of friendship is not something you just slap on somebody because you like that person. Friendship is a big responsibility and all the things that you do with your friends is not something you just want to do with someone because you have a feeling that this person is fits in the category of the kind of people you call your friends.

Well I feel like my 2nd and 3rd questions I answer, I have already given the advice, but um I'll just give an advice that is not really related to what I've said. Um the advice I would give anybody is just to have faith, just have feet and keep believing. Um don't limit what you want to achieve. Don't limit your desires to what you know, but what you feel, you know, if you knew how to get to where you want to get too, or you know how to achieve all your dreams, you already be here by now. So you have to learn to have faith in God or in a higher power on whatever you believe in. So have faith and believe. Do not limit what you think you can achieve to your level of reasoning at this time or to your level of thinking. Just keep having faith in God in um whatever you want to achieve anyway, Thank you

OVERCOMING LACK OF SELF-WORK_BENJAMIN NATHANIEL_Day 15

7m · Published 29 Jan 20:05

Topic: OVERCOMING LACK OF SELF-WORTH

Guest: BENJAMIN NATHANIEL

At some point in our lives, many of us battle feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness. In this episode of The Golden Rubbish 2023, I'll discuss my experience with feeling unworthy, as well as the steps I've taken to get ready for potential opportunities and strengthen my sense of self-worth.

August 2020 I was privileged to be the project manager of a school building project. By March 2023, we had completed the project, the school was open, and pupils were already enjoying classes. When the work in the field was completed, I was asked to come and start working in the Abuja office, but I was afraid that I would underperform because I was a field guy and now I would have to face the office daily wahala, so I declined the offer. In the end, I realized that my negative thoughts and feelings were based on limiting beliefs and insecurities, rather than reality.

So what did I do to prevent the above from happening again, you may ask?

1. I practice self-reflection and seeking support from trusted sources.

Self-reflection and seeking support from trusted sources are crucial for personal growth and well-being. By taking the time to reflect on one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, individuals can gain a deeper understanding of themselves and identify areas that need improvement. This introspective process can lead to increased self-awareness, insight, and a greater sense of control over one's life.

2. I engaging in activities and hobbies that bring joy and a sense of accomplishment.

Engaging in activities and hobbies that bring joy and a sense of accomplishment is a crucial aspect of livening a fulfilling life. Whether it's gardening, painting, or playing a musical instrument, having a creative outlet can help relieve stress and improve overall mental health.

3. I practice self-compassion and speaking kindly to myself.

Practicing self-compassion and speaking kindly to oneself is essential for overall mental and emotional wellbeing. In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in negative self-talk and criticism, but this only exacerbates stress and anxiety.

Self-compassion and speaking kindly to oneself are important for maintaining mental and emotional health. By being mindful, engaging in self-care, and using positive language, we can create a supportive inner environment that promotes well-being and happiness.

4. I surround myself with positive and supportive people...

5. I Challenge limiting beliefs and negative thoughts...

6. I Focused on personal strengths and accomplishments.

Focusing on personal strengths and accomplishments can have a profound impact on one's self-esteem and well-being. By recognizing and celebrating one's successes and unique abilities, individuals can gain a greater sense of confidence and motivation in their personal and professional lives.

Focusing on personal strengths and accomplishments can have a positive impact on one's self-esteem, confidence, and well-being. By regularly taking time to reflect on and celebrate one's successes and abilities, individuals can develop a growth mindset, foster a positive outlook, and achieve greater satisfaction in their lives.

Finally, developing a sense of self-worth takes time and effort, but it is a journey worth undertaking. By challenging negative thoughts and focusing on our strengths, we can learn to love and appreciate ourselves just as we are. Remember to be kind to yourself and seek support from others when needed.

BECOMING A BETTER PERSON_CYNTHIA OMOREGIE_Day 14

Topic: BECOMING A BETTER PERSON

Guest: CYNTHIA OMOREGIE

My name is Cynthia Omoregie. I am here to share my experience that made me indecisive, forgetful and procrastinate. My life was a mess and I needed a practical solution.

Last year, I had so much goals that I wanted to achieve. I had planned for growth in my career, family, finances and spiritual life. However, I was only able to achieve some, procrastinated a few and even totally shunned others.

I needed great help to not repeat similar mistakes and then it lit up in my mind that I had underestimated the power of planning.

In life, it is so easy to get busy and carried away with activities that you lose precious time doing things that are not of priority or significance.

Planning helps you to organize and coordinate yourself with the resources that are within your reach. Just imagine staying in a disarranged and scattered room, it would be difficult to move about, there would be poor ventilation, a sore sight and even a choked mind. On the other hand, a well arranged room has the aura of peace, good energy and creativity.

Here are some practical tips to help get your life on track with proper planning;

• In 7 habits of highly effective people, whatever is important and urgent- do; not important and urgent- delegate; important and not urgent- plan; not important and not urgent- eliminate.

• Set a to-do-list for the day and review the list at the end of the day noting what was achieved, not achieved and in progress.

• Put up your goals where you can see it every time. It serves as a reminder of what you want.

• Have a single scheduler containing activities, tasks or meetings. It helps to easily manage your time and not overload your day.

• Reflect on your week, the things that went well and evaluate the causes of the things you were not able to accomplish.

• Plan for your all round health. Health include physical, spiritual, mental and emotional wellbeing. You may take a creative class, vacation or a new skill.

This year always take out time to plan. It pays to plan. For me, with a good plan, I become a better person and I achieve my set goals.

So, I will end with a question, how can you include planning as a routine for better progress?, if you can think it then do it. Thank you

MY ACTION MY RESPONSIBLITY_WALE ANDREW WOBLAI_ Day 13

11m · Published 27 Jan 18:40

Topic: MY ACTION MY RESPONSIBILITY

Guest: Wale Andrew Woblai

It is a joy to be on this edition of "Golden Rubbish" this year. Again, I am Wale Andrew Woblai shortly I will just take you through some moment of my pains that I found gain and they can be seen known as trash but there were treasures I was able to extract from it. You can call them rubbish. But they were some golden things I found from them last year. I took the decision to resign from my job. I was working for a mobile company, and the job was paying averagely, and life wasn't too bad. But then, deep within me, at some point, I lost satisfaction. I knew I needed something more, and the working environment was not too comfortable any longer. But then to resign without having another job at hand. It's very crazy. It was something that I didn't consult people around me before taking that action because I know they will not agree or consent to such decision because it looks crazy indeed.

Majorly because of the state of the nation. You know they said there is no job you that have this one, you should manage it, they say half bread is better than none blah blah blah and all of those stuffs.

So, I just felt after sending my resignation that's when I was informed people and that was exactly what I did send my resignation and because of the contribution that I have made for that company they were shocked that such a staff will be resigning. The HR called me and some other bosses called me, trying to talk me back into the job, but I was keen to hear them change the offer, making things much more better. But they never mentioned things like that, especially the pay. You know, one of the reasons why we walk is for the money, and the work environment should be comfortable, but all of these things were not adding up any longer for me.

Some other people will be grateful to have what I had, but then I knew I needed something more, and because I am not another person, I knew it was time for me to leave, so I just took that bold and crazy step. Send my resignation later in April told the company by May I will be stopping the job with them. And exactly that was what happened. I remember when people around me in fact including siblings when I told them this is what I've done they were not really happy that I would do such a thing and the entire thing now boils down to so what are you hoping to do? And so many questions that I don't have all of the answers but I knew it's time for me to leave which was why I left lessons I've learned from that experience...

And even considering that I am not married, I don't have a family. The people I God is using me to be of blessing too. I just know God will still make a win. So I just had to go. So if you have more responsibility, don't dare what I did, but if you know you can survive when it's time to leave, I advise you to leave, but if you choose to stay, you should calculate is the pay worth stress will continue staying be healthy because I will not advise anybody to stay when it will not reach to a point where to affect your mental health.

And then I knew so well that when I left, there would be many from the company and even outside that would be looking at me to make sarcastic comments like, "Look at him now that he's left; look at his life as it's getting better; things have become worse. We know he was taking the wrong step and all that kind of stuff like that. But then it is important for you to know that if you want to take such kind of steps, it requires work, quitting for more work is not quitting to rest. It is quitting to work because eyes will be on you and I'm grateful for all of the experience because today, I can boldly say all that has happened, happened for my good thank you.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE_TEMITAYO OKEREJI_Day 12

8m · Published 26 Jan 18:24

Topic: HEALTHY LIFE STYLE

Guest: TEMITAYO OKEREJI

Growing up you might have heard the term ‘Health is Wealth’, but its essential meaning is still not clear to most people. Generally, people confuse good health with being free of any kind of illness. While it may be part of the case, it is not entirely what good health is all about. So, to lead a healthy life, a person must be fit and fine both physically and mentally. For instance, if you are constantly eating junk food yet you do not have any disease, it does not make you healthy. You are not consuming healthy food which naturally means you are not healthy, just surviving. Therefore, to actually live and not merely survive, you need to have the basic essentials that make up for a healthy lifestyle.

I want to focus on a brief narrative. In the year 2022, I developed a number of severe illnesses. I was unaware of how horrible it was. I spent two and a half months in and out of the hospital and after a series of tests, scans, and other procedures it revealed layers and layers of diagnosis. Although it may have seemed slow to some, I recovered as quickly as my mind could with the help of my family and friends. I can assure you that I'll never be the same again. I was traumatized, and such an experience is not something that someone who values and prioritizes their health will go through. My point is that the time, money, people's time, and other resources used may have been better utilized elsewhere If I became aware of it earlier...

Guess what I will perform superiorly if given another chance in this situation? A healthy lifestyle. Fast one... I used to think I was in excellent health because I led an above-average lifestyle, but now that I know better, I'll make some lifestyle changes. These adjustments will involve alterations to my eating, sleeping, and lifestyle patterns. I’ll eat a well-balanced, nutrient-dense diet for my physical wellness to mention yes, I do all these now.

Now my piece of advice to you, well, as it is clear by now, good health is a luxury which everyone wants but some cannot afford. This point itself states the importance of a healthy lifestyle. When a person leads a healthy lifestyle, he/she will be free from the tension of seeking medical attention every now and then.

On the contrary, if you have poor health, you will usually spend your time in a hospital and the bills will take away your mental peace. Therefore, a healthy lifestyle means you will be able to enjoy your life freely. Similarly, when you have a relaxed mind at all times, you will be able to keep your loved ones happy. A healthy individual is more likely to fulfil all of his goals because he can easily focus on them and has the energy to complete them. This is why the proverb “Health is Wealth” carries so much weight.

Unlike a machine, the body needs rest at regular intervals. A minimum of six to seven hours of sleep is necessary for the body to function optimally. Drinking plenty of water and a balanced diet is also very important for your body.  If you violate the basic laws of good health, like working late hours, ignoring physical exercise, eating junk food, it will lead to various ailments like hypertension, heart attacks, and other deadly diseases.

Inshort, healthy life is the highest blessing that must not be taken for granted. It is truly the source of all happiness. Money may buy you all the luxuries in the world but it cannot buy you good health. You are solely responsible for that, so for your well-being and happiness, it is better to switch to a healthy lifestyle

CONVERTING PAIN INTO PASSION_AUGUSTINE AYODELE JOSEPH_Day 11

Topic: CONVERTING PAIN TO GAIN

Guest: AUGUSTINE AYODELE JOSEPH

Hello, my name is Augustine Ayodele Joseph. I would rather prefer to be called "Delz (the customer guy)." My Golden Rubbish experience for the year 2022 is an awesome one. This year was full of lots of ups and downs, down moments at low points that I felt oh it was the end, I will not be able to bounce back. But one thing I experienced is that throughout all of these times that I was at this low point, one way or another, God as a way of bringing me back and this is why I'm sharing this experience with Golden Rubbish for this year because starting from the 5th of January 2022 I had like this very terrible called about my older brothers and the battles we are going around at this time, I was also trying to really find my feet in the professional space, like in the area of customer success, I had just been moved to the department in the officer. Well, unfortunately, I lost my brother on February 14th, and I was like, "Oh, so this can actually happen to me." I've always heard people talk about it, but I've never suffered the loss of a loved one. So after the loss of my brother, I felt there was nothing else to live for. So life should just go, yes I contemplated maybe just do something crazy, stop work.

No, there's no point working again, just enjoy your life, just be you, no longer serious. But one way or another, there's this thing that I just felt in my spirit and as against doing this terrible thing, you know, I'll just dump everything here because there's no point working. I then discovered that there was actually a reason to walk. I turned my pain into passion, right? And at that point I began to walk and walk was working 24 hours a day. I was walking around like 24 hours around the clock every time my colleagues abroad, anybody that is in the US, in Estonia in Philippines in that’s in Asia, it looks like I'm living all of these times and I'm learning and paying attention to all of these people all at once and instead of three months I discovered that I have grown, I became better...

When you take on responsibility, you become scared and think to yourself, "I can't do this." But while we are another, if that challenge will come by 2:00am today, By 8:00pm yesterday God as a way of making providence and these things will just come in one way or another and you'll be able to move it. That's basically my Golden Rubbish experience for the year 2022. And now, in January 2023, I can say with certainty that the year 2022 was a very great year. I suffered not suffering but like this is good suffering. I mean, we're talking about Golden Rubbish. Yes, it looks like rubbish, all of the dirt that life throws at me, rather than just letting it pull me down. I was able to storm the weather and I became better and I can say for a fact categorically that this is just the beginning. I am here now. I have learnt that suffering challenges is part of human experience. Every suffering that comes away is just a way of making us better. Because God will never let a man go through a challenge that he or she cannot surmount, right before God allows the challenge to come, he has already provided the strength; his grace is sufficient to pull us through. Thank you very much. That's by my time.

I am Delz (the customer guy), and I have a wonderful 2023 ahead.

SURVIVING THE STORMS_BLESSING_Day 10

13m · Published 24 Jan 18:30

Topic: SURVIVING THE STORM

Guest: BLESSING EWA

In the year 2022, I had so many experiences that I was able to learn from, but I will share with you one experience that I had in 2022 that I learned so much from and that helped shape my mentality towards life. One of which was my leaving a job. So I had to move to Abuja. So I left the job that I was working in Nasarawa hoping that when I get to Abuja with all my skills and expertise, I should be able to get a job in Abuja as soon as possible, say one month. So I was very highly confident. And the thing is, before leaving for Abuja, I just did not make that decision. I even had to ask the Holy Spirit if it was okay to move or if it was the right time to move; I knew that my time at the previous work place was done and it was time to move on to the next level of my life. So I had spoken to the Holy Spirit, and I told him to give me a sign for me to move on. If you give me a sign and it says "green," then I will go. And then you give me a positive sign from three of them that it was evidence enough that I should move on. So I actually resigned; I dropped my resignation.

I then left for Abuja; I had a place to stay with an uncle of mine, so I was hoping that as soon as possible, I should be able to get a job with my years of experience. As you know, I try to engage myself in as much community service as possible. So what is my greatest shock for 2022? For the first seven months, I had nothing to do. I'm the first child in my family, and I have responsibilities. So whenever I make money, I don't just make it for myself. I make money thinking of my family too. So that's how, as you know, I live my life. So it got to a point where it dawned on me that I did not have a job. I have tried several applications. I have spoken to people; I have even had you reach out to people one-on-one, asking if there are opportunities in the organization so that I can work; was there nothing at all? It appeared that I was experiencing a setback and should not proceed, and I knew that at that time, people desperately needed my assistance and I was unable to provide it. That's how bad it felt; it brought me to a very deep period of depression. I was going in and out of depression because I couldn't stop thinking about how much more I wanted to help my family, and, you know, the one thing I've told myself in life, knowing where I'm coming from, is to never stay out of a job. So, no matter how little I get paid, I make sure that at the end of the month, I always get paid something. Because I know how much we suffered when we were quite young. I started working very early, even before I started university, because I didn't want to suffer all of that anymore. But at this particular point in time, the questions I've been asking myself were:..

Because I believe that if I am to celebrate the glory of manifesting the glory of God, I cannot manifest his glory without the story. So, the story must come from somewhere for it to show that this is actually the glory of God. So who knows? Maybe you are chosen to manifest the glory of God in the future.

So you must come with the story. If you don’t have stories like Joseph, Job, or Daniel, your products will not succeed. It would just be normal to everybody, but when you come from a place where your story is so touching that people begin to wonder, "How did you survive this?" And they begin to tell them about your faith in God. Sometimes most of these things that happens, God allows them for a reason, maybe you should think deep and see what reason that is Maybe God will also glorify his name in the near future. So I do hope this encourages somebody in 2023. I know 2023 is going to be a good year for people, but nonetheless, should you find yourself in that dark spot that did Valley Remember to keep your head above water and you find yourself surviving the storm.

Thank you very much.

MANAGING ANXIETY_SINI_DAY 9

11m · Published 23 Jan 19:40

Topic: MANAGING ANXIETY

Guest: YAKUBU SINI

Hello everyone. My name is Sini. Today I want to talk about what I call "managing anxiety." I know in the time pass we have passed through one level of anxious moments or two or many times in our different phases of life. I have also passed through so many anxious moments, but the most important thing is not passing through such memories but rather how we manage such moments. Of course, at every phase of life, we face different challenges, but challenges are not your problem, how we manage such challenges is actually much more important. So I want to share from my experience how I have managed some anxious moments in my life, especially in the past one year, and how such moments have helped me to shape my character and shape my skills. You know, to shape my life that actually propelled me to where I am right now. So, anxious moments are not necessarily bad. However, if we fail to manage them, it can resolve to something that we don't want or it can produce a negative outcomes in our life.

So, it is very-very important for us to know how to manage anxious moments in our lives. It is very important for us to device mechanisms of how to manage such moment and anxious moment usually come at a time of breakthroughs in our life. You know, at a point where we are switching from one phase to another, that's where such a social movement usually comes from, and if you fail to manage them as I said, it would definitely create a negative outcome. It is natural for every human being to like to be in his or her comfort zone. However, being in your comfort zone might not necessarily translate into growth. So, life is full of risk, and the greater the measurable risks you take, the higher your chances of becoming successful...

So what I did was to forget about those things, to forget about what is next in my career, and I was concentrating on achieving my immediate Milestone, and at that time, my immediate Milestone ensure that I wrote my dissertation very well, so I concentrated my energy on ensuring that, I actually write a fantastic dissertation. I wrote a fantastic, well-referenced dissertation that can be presented anywhere in the world. I did not worry about what is going to happen tomorrow, where I'm going to go next, I was concentrating on achieving my immediate Milestone and immediately I finish writing my dissertation. I now progress into doing some academic application and doing some job application, and at any time that I was doing that I made sure that I put my best in the process of doing those application, thinking not about what the outcomes of such application will be, you will discover that any time you find yourself in an anxious situation, if you don't manage it very well, it will deny you from putting a lot of effort in achieving Something that is great for you at that time. And when I did that, I concentrated on achieving my immediate milestone. I discovered that those anxieties were no more there, I redefined my success, and the way I defined it was that my ability to do what I am supposed to do right now in the very best way is success, rather than my long-term goals.

So every day I ensured that I was successful in what I was doing, and that strategy actually helped me achieve long-term success. So, what I learned from that scenario is that to achieve your biggest success or your long-term success, it is highly dependent on your ability to achieve your small, small, small successes or small small, small Milestone because those smaller milestones are what will lead to achieving your bigger milestone.

So, my challenge for you today is: how well are you managing your immediate milestone today?

How well are you managing that small job that you're doing while you are looking forward to that big a job?

Thank you for listening.

GUARD YOUR HEART_MERCY AJEH_Day 8

6m · Published 22 Jan 21:26

Topic: GUARD YOUR HEART

Guest: MERCY AJEH

In 2022, I finally got hold of 2 things I had been waiting for, for a long time but they didn't come with the happiness I envisaged.

I mean, I thought I'd have all the butterflies in my stomach, melody in my heart, and my season of unending laughter would start but instead, I felt overwhelmed and my heart ached in the midst of seeming answer to long-time prayers.

It painted me as ungrateful, filled me with dread for my person, made me question my understanding of happiness, and covered me with guilt and shame for myself.

What went wrong? You might ask

Aren't we supposed to be happy with answered prayers? I had those questions as well but I'll give you an answer shortly,

I learned a lot from this experience. I had been hoarding my happiness, trying it to an accomplishment I was looking forward to, so when the accomplishment came, it looked bleak because happiness is not something you put on the line as a reward to drive you to get another thing. You reward yourself with gifts for a job well done which is perfectly okay but you do not reward yourself with happiness because happiness is a state you're meant to constantly live in, it is meant to be a part of you and shouldn't be limited to just when things are rosy.

So, I lived in gloom waiting for something to happen before I pick up happiness again but because feelings aren't clothes we can put on and take off at will, (even though sometimes we can), I had to wait to unlearn gloom and appreciate the good that had come to me.

It was hard, it wasn't easy, the weight of gloom is weighty, scary, depressing, it leaves you teary and begging because you're scared of never being happy again. You are wondering if it'll ever be happy with you because if all you thought would make you happy, didn't, then what is your happiness fate in life?

If I have the chance to relive 2022, I would start from 1st January to be in charge of my mood, feelings and emotions regardless of the glaring truth of my situation. I'll choose to be positive, alive, and happy. I'll choose to live through it all so that I don't go back to zero point finding myself when I should be enjoying my breakthrough.

So, my advice to you is that tough times don't last, like they'll always say, seasons would pass but as much as possible, guard yourself, guard your heart. You do not want to lose yourself before your breakthrough, else of what use is the breakthrough?

Live through each season so that you can enjoy the proceeds when the season ends. Do not wait, do not wait, because, at the end of waiting, you would struggle to find you, you would struggle to exude happiness, and you would struggle to be joyful. If you cannot be joyful now, you won't be joyful when the breakthrough comes but if you can take it one day at a time encouraging yourself to be happy when the breakthrough comes, you would not be learning to be happy afresh, you would just be happy

Positive Impact of Mentorship_Simeon Olabode_Day 7

Topic: Positive Impact of Mentorship

Guest: Simeon olabode

My most memorable experience in the year 2022 was when I almost lost an opportunity that changed the course of my life. The year 2021 ended with me learning different skills that will enable me to transition to a career in tech. Prior to that time, I was a college lecturer of Religious studies, and I didn’t resign from my previous job until May 2022. After I resigned, I find it difficult to cope because I couldn’t get another job immediately. So, I was working a part-time job until I got the opening at my current workplace. The application and interview processes started in July 2022, and it was a five stages interview process. By the end of July, I had passed the third stage and was proceeding to the fourth stage. So, I got a mail on the evening of Friday, 22nd July 2022 asking me to come for the fourth stage of the interview on Monday, 25th July 2022.

The first three stages had all been virtual interviews, and I didn’t have any issues with that. However, I was perplexed when I got the mail on that Friday evening because I didn’t have enough money to travel from Yola to Lagos the next morning. Apart from the transport fare, I had other concerns like; where I was going to stay during the interview period and also if the whole journey is worth it at all since it was still the fourth stage and not passing that stage means that I will have to return to Yola spending another two whole days on the road, this time with disappointment. I got wearied by my thoughts and fell asleep. So, the next day on Saturday morning, I forgot about traveling for the interview and decided to visit my mentor instead. When I got to his house, we talked about other issues apart from the interview, and most of the time he was talking while I was listening.

So at about 11:30 am, he received a package from another state and while we were talking about the package, I mentioned that I was also supposed to travel for an interview at Lagos, but I am giving it up since I didn’t have money for transport fare. However, upon hearing that, he gave me some money and asked me to leave immediately so that I won’t miss the opportunity. He didn’t even allow me to express my other concerns. So I left rushing off to the park to see if I could get a direct bus but at that time, it was already late. I had to travel to another state to get a bus going to Lagos. I arrived in Lagos on Monday and headed straight for the interview. Long story short, I got the job...

What I will do better if I am given another chance is to never give up easily and to be more proactive in taking decisions. We are usually prone to choose comfort over hard work or risk. I mean, a lot of people will rather choose to stay in their comfort zone than involve themselves in work that is hard or risky. However, the hard and risky things that we do are the things that bring significant changes to our lives. Many “what ifs” will want to stop us from doing what is needed to bring about the considerable turnaround that we desire in life. We must, therefore, learn to see beyond the “what ifs” and jolt ourselves into the necessary action that is required to transform our lives.

One piece of advice that I will love to give to our listeners for the year 2023 is to go do the hard things. Let’s leave our comfort zones (whatever they may be) and pursue those hard things that we naturally don’t like to do because those hard things (be it skill, decision, lifestyle, or mindset)  are the things that will bring about transformation in our lives.
