Reclaiming Rest

20m · Published 03 Dec 17:02

In today's fast-paced world, the importance of rest often takes a back seat to our busy lives. In addition, we encounter myths about rest that may prevent us from fully embracing its benefits. So, let's dive into some myths you may have heard or still believe and uncover the truth about the power of rest as a form of self-care.

Join me, Alicia Caldwell, in a discussion about reclaiming the power of rest for our mental well-being. During this discussion, I’ll address three myths that may be holding you back from the rest and restoration that you need to function at optimal levels in your life, career, and relationships.

Myths Discussed:

  1. Rest is a form of laziness.
  2. Rest is a sign of weakness.
  3. Sleep is enough rest to sustain us.

Truths Discussed:

  1. Rest is an intentional form of rejuvenation that can increase our productivity.
  2. Rest increases mental resilience and strengthens our ability to resist the negative effects of stress.
  3. Sleep is important, but it is not enough to counteract the multiple streams of stress we face each day.

Do it Tired

33m · Published 17 Nov 19:00

Have you ever felt the frustration of mental or physical exhaustion while on the path to manifesting success in life or career? If so, this episode is for you. Join me, Alicia Caldwell, as I share possible contributors to exhaustion and strategies that have helped me continue to progress, despite mine.

There are so many conversations about us "doing it afraid," but so much judgment when we can't figure out how to do it when we're tired, overwhelmed, or exhausted.

Episode Takeaways:

1. Restorative self-care is a key ingredient to doing it tired.

2. Prioritize and simplify. Focus on what matters most. Create your priority list and break tasks into small and manageable steps.

3. Take restful breaks to recharge your body throughout the day.

4. Ask for help. Resist the urge to struggle alone during bouts of exhaustion.

5. Say "no" as needed to avoid overcommitting.

"Exhaustion may trip you up, but it doesn't have to count you out."

Destroy the Weeds of Fear

18m · Published 02 Nov 19:35

It’s been a while, but welcome back to the Me Myself and HER Podcast! For those who are new here, I’m Alicia Caldwell, a licensed professional counselor turned mental empowerment speaker. I created this podcast as an extension of my Live Like HER® community. In each episode, I share practical and effective strategies on how we can lead and succeed in life, career, and relationships without sacrificing our mental health. Sometimes I sprinkle in some other topics that are on my heart to share, but no matter the topic my mission is the same – “Change the world one mentally empowered person at a time.”

In this return episode of the Me Myself and HER Podcast, I explore the fears that often hold us back from reaching and exceeding our full potential – the fear of failure and the fear of success. This episode explores the importance of self-awareness in recognizing the weeds of fear and using courage and confidence to grow and prosper despite them.

“Fear is not the enemy. Lack of self-awareness and strategy are.”

The Urgency of Mental Wellbeing

16m · Published 26 Jan 03:21

On this episode, “The Urgency of Mental Wellbeing,” Alicia shares her story of shame surrounding mental and emotional challenges stemming from childhood adversity. She also shares the process of becoming more self-aware and courageous in her desire to heal her pain, not only for herself but those she loves.

Many high-achieving professionals experience the stigma associated with mental and emotional struggles. Especially if they appear to have it “all together.” The truth is, mental and emotional challenges don’t care about your education, financial status, or how good you look on the outside. But the hope is that you do care. And care so much that you’ll take proactive measures to prepare and position yourself to win from the inside out.

Alicia created the Me Myself and HER Podcast and Live Like HER® community in honor of the woman she used to be. Her mission is to inspire others to become champions of their mental health by embracing the power of radical self-care and the pursuit of becoming HER (Healthy-Empowered-Resilient).

Episode Quote: It’s never too soon or too late to make a powerful decision that will change the direction of your life.

BONUS EPISODE: Grace as a Form of Self-care

5m · Published 05 Jul 23:50

Please enjoy this BONUS EPISODE as I, Alicia Caldwell, share how life circumstances sometimes warrant a pause as you reposition, refocus, and prepare to restart. Because there are times in life where a pause is more powerful than pushing yourself to complete a task. Today was one of those times. I had planned to record another podcast episode, but my mind and energy were not prepared for it. If you are struggling with giving yourself permission to take care of your mind as you strive for success in life, take a listen, and then decide.

What I know is that self-care sometimes means taking a purposeful pause. Listen to your mind, body, and spirit as your gauge if this practice may apply to you.

A Message From a Daddyless Daughter

10m · Published 21 Jun 21:35

Today's Me Myself and HER Podcast episode 48, is a Father's Day tribute. Not for the fathers, but for the fatherless daughters. I'm sending this message of hope and encouragement as a fellow daddyless daughter. As you live out the chapters of your life that don't include a father's love, guidance, or presence, I pray that you find your way to the abundant life that you deserve.

My hope is that this episode will magnify the needs and inspire daddyless women and girls to believe that they are worthy of love, capable of healing, deserving of prosperity, and more than their parental circumstances.

Join Alicia Caldwell as she discusses her daddlyess daughter journey and her decision to make revisions to the story she was telling herself about her father's absence.

Episode highlights: Emotional turmoil is a natural but challenging result of a father's absence. | Lack of support makes healing more difficult. | Daddy issues affect relationships, trust, and emotions. | Give yourself permission to feel and heal. | Get help if needed. | You are in control of your story.
