EPISODE 101: Letting go of outcomes and control in order to embrace our power

59m · Published 14 Dec 12:45

Today on We Go Boldly Rielly and Tovah talk about letting go of outcomes and urge to control ourselves, our environment, other people in order to feel safe and okay. So often we struggle with the feeling that we can direct and control the universe by will, by demand, by gripping tightly to our expectation of what ought to be.

This episode examines why we want to control things and people (hello fear), and how we cling to preconceived outcomes rather than accepting where we actually are right now. We walk through the science and concepts around why we need to let go of control and why it can feel so challenging to do so. Throughout this conversation we consider the ins and outs of how we often find ourselves in a cycle of clinging to outcomes, and then feeling shame, disappointment, remorse, and a multitude of other feelings when the outcome is not what we expected.

Finally, we walk through a number of ways we can help ourselves let go of outcomes and put down the burden of trying to control uncontrollable people, environments, and things. We start with acceptance of where and who we are, move to letting go of our perfectionist tendencies, and end with naming our inner tyrants. When we take the time to feel our feelings, and focus on what we actually can control; our actions and reactions, then we have space, energy and time to embrace our power. We have the capacity to focus on our inner voice, who we are at our core, and how we can bring that person out into the light.

GO BOLDLY HOMEWORK

  1. Let’s take some time to examine what outcomes we are attached to and what tools we can use to help ourselves surrender and let go of outcomes.
  2. Share with us how you do and let us go if we can help.

EPISODE 99: Feeling our Feelings

1h 6m · Published 30 Nov 17:14

Feeling the big feelings in life is hard. This episode we dig all around in those murky, deep, dark feelings that so many of us try to avoid. Why would we do this you might ask? Because avoidance is simply kicking the can down the road. It doesn't make it go away.

Join Rielly and Tovah as they tackle the big feelings we all have to grapple with from time to time. Everything from sadness to self doubt, anger, rage, and overwhelm. We take on the big feelings that can hang over our heads and drag us down, draining us of the power that we are spending this season working on embracing.

They talk through what it really means to feel your feelings as we've all been told to do time and time again. Provide specific examples of how to feel our feelings if we aren't really sure what that means, and why it is important to keep on practicing. Engage in this meaningful conversation around how our feelings can lead us into physical and mental unrest when left unexamined, unprocessed, and denied.

GO BOLDLY HOMEWORK

  1. Join our Go Boldly Together Circle!
  2. Take time to write out your latest experience of big feelings, how did it feel in your body, what was the feeling trying to tell you, how did you deal with that feeling, what would you do differently, the same?
  3. Let us know what you think on social media!

EPISODE 95: Anxiety and Embracing our power

1h 11m · Published 02 Nov 11:17

Anxiety. Let's talk about it. Embracing our power means peeling back the layers of stuff holding us back and facing our difficulties, fears, stressors, little and big A anxieties. Mental health is something we all can and should talk about, especially when it comes to living our fullest lives. Join us as we talk signs, symptoms and triggers for anxiety.

Often anxiety shows up in our lives without us even realizing what it is or what is causing the feelings that we are experiencing. We talk about some of the science behind anxiety, how you can detect it in your life and what to do to help yourself start to address those feelings. When anxiety goes unchallenged in our lives it can take over, leaving us without space or energy to do the things that are important and healthy for our own development. It is nearly impossible to embrace our power and gratitude when we are caught up in the storm of anxiety. Let's talk through ways to begin letting go of those triggers and anxiety storms that run through our lives.

As always we recommend the help of a professional therapist in conjunction with life coaching whenever possible. Join us today for this important discussion and don't forget to rate, subscribe and review while you're at it!

EPISODE 93: Letting go and moving forward

1h 3m · Published 19 Oct 11:34

"There is a fine balance between honoring the past and losing yourself in it. You can acknowledge and learn from the mistakes you made and then move on. It's called forgiving yourself." -Eckhart Tolle

This week on We Go Boldly we go to the past so we can move forward to the future. Dealing with the past is not the same as denying your past or pretending you are not impacted by it. Rather - choosing how we move forward after addressing what we need to from our past.

We have to strike a balance between honoring our past and history—without letting it limit or hold us back from moving forward. Oh but how. It is not easy! It doesn’t help that our brains make it easier to hold onto the negative than the positive.

So how do you let go? You have to decide to let it go. We are here to help. Join us this week as we let go so we can embrace our power.

GO BOLDLY HOMEWORK
1. Identify something you are having trouble “letting go” of. Look at a few of the options on this list that we talked through and think about steps you can take to move forward.
2. Check out our Defining You course.
