We’re breaking up…sort of.

21m · Published 06 Jun 16:05

Why do so many people break up with someone and then get back together several times? There are many subconscious or emotional reasons why people stay in, or return to, relationships that they rationally know are unhealthy or dysfunctional for them, including situations as extreme as cheating and abuse. It’s actually very similar to an addiction or emotional compulsion like smoking, drugs, or alcohol. Often such a situation is caused by an imbalanced perception of your partner, great sex, infatuation, comfort zone, and fear of being alone or codependency, often due to low self-worth or belief that it’s not possible to find a better relationship. It’s NOT due to an “addictive personality” but rather one or several disempowering beliefs. Learn how Todd and Gina have used their methods to break clients’ compulsive relationships and finally break free.

Grief: Why is it so hard to say goodbye?

37m · Published 30 May 16:01

Grief is an issue that most of us have experienced at least once, often as an emotional response to the death of a loved one. Do you realize that your grieving experience largely depends upon your beliefs? Beliefs are learned and can be unlearned. This means that such suffering is culturally programmed and not required or even necessary to process your loss in a healthy way. Unfortunately, most people in our Western society are unaware of the true nature of grief and their power to overcome it, so they needlessly suffer for months, years, or decades and often develop secondary issues like fears, unhealthy habits, and even illness. As a result, reminders of their loved one may bring sadness, guilt, or anger, which actually dishonors the loved one and blocks feelings of love. Listen to Todd and Gina discuss the key beliefs and perceptions that cause grief and discover how you can shift your thinking, so you can once again feel connected to your loved one with love rather than sadness.

If you ignore your past traumas, they will haunt you.

15m · Published 05 May 15:25

Obesity and alcohol abuse are almost always symptoms of unresolved emotional issues (often trauma), which means that those unresolved issues must be addressed to create lasting behavioral change. Todd and Gina discuss two examples of clients who got mediocre results because they deliberately failed to disclose important traumatic experiences from their past. While sharing specific details usually isn’t necessary, it’s critical to reveal emotionally-charged events to your hypnotist to increase your odds of a successful outcome. Todd also offers a simple technique to determine if a past experience is currently affecting you emotionally or physically. This has major implications for potential future illness or immune problems. In addition, he shares an interesting and useful method of assigning excess body fat or unwanted habits to your emotional baggage.

To eliminate symptoms you MUST resolve the underlying cause!

24m · Published 02 May 16:21

If you want help to solve your personal challenges, it’s critical to select a practitioner whose treatment philosophy includes the following points: First, they believe that you are a whole person with a THINKING PROBLEM that can be solved, as opposed to a diagnosed disorder that must be managed. Second, they must focus on the ROOT CAUSE of the symptoms, not just the obvious symptoms. Third, they must be skilled and experienced working directly with the SUBCONSCIOUS mind, which is the most effective and efficient way to resolve any emotional or behavioral issue at the root. Gina discusses three past clients whose stories illustrate how simple it can be to solve obvious problems (symptoms) when the underlying, often not obvious, cause is addressed effectively. One client had a face-picking habit, another client suffered from insomnia, and the third was a former sex slave who was able to improve in SEVERAL DOZEN areas after Gina neutralized her multiple traumas and self-worth issues.

So you suffered a major loss...What did you gain?

24m · Published 28 Apr 17:56

It's human nature to see life experiences as either good or bad, and this polarized perception creates emotional volatility, including feelings of resentment, regret, guilt, grief, and fear (as well as what we think of as positive emotions). The actual reality (contrary to our impulsive judgments) is that there are always two sides to the coin, and it's our incomplete awareness and resulting judgment that causes our emotional ups and downs. Todd and Gina explore this phenomenon and share the story of a client who was able to balance her stress-inducing perception of a significant financial loss and actually come to feel gratitude for the experience. What has happened in your life that you have judged as "bad" in some way? If you're willing to consider how it also may have served or benefited you, then listen to this episode and learn how to apply the technique that has helped many clients of Goodwin Hypnosis.

Willpower doesn't work, so don't try so hard!

21m · Published 27 Apr 22:58

You may have struggled to break some bad habits and simply assumed that you lacked willpower. It might surprise you to discover that willpower isn't designed to create long-term behavioral change. Unfortunately, most health and wellness professionals depend on their clients' or patients' conscious effort and willpower to change, and that usually results in frustration and failure. Hypnotists, by contrast, know that your subconscious mind must agree to shift if you want change to occur without conscious effort. Whether you want to quit smoking, curb your alcohol consumption, lose weight, or simply to understand yourself better, listen to this episode. You'll need only 20 minutes of willpower! :)

Fear not! Understanding panic attacks and phobias.

16m · Published 22 Apr 16:45

While many people focus on treating panic attacks or coping with them, it's wiser to recognize that panic attacks are symptoms that can be completely resolved when the underlying causes are addressed. There can be several causes, including physiological factors, but pre-existing emotional anxiety is often to blame. Such anxiety and any related phobias are based on disempowering beliefs/perceptions and/or nervous system conditioning, all of which must be corrected to eliminate the anxiety, after which panic attacks cease to exist.

Your way of thinking can damage your immune health.

14m · Published 20 Apr 16:45

Did you know that how and what you think can directly impact your health? Health care practitioners and scientists have known for decades that our mind can contribute to both illness and wellness. The important field of psychoneuroimmunology explores how our thoughts influence our nervous system and immune system. When we habitually generate stressful thoughts, our nervous system becomes accustomed to triggering the fight or flight response, which, in turn, suppresses our immune response. As a result, we are more likely to suffer from infections and chronic illness. Learn the difference between sorting information by connection and sorting by distinction, and how each can affect your stress levels. Todd and Gina also share a quick and simple mental technique that you can apply every day to improve your attitude and reduce your stress.

Is stress keeping you awake at night? Put insomnia to bed!

21m · Published 19 Apr 17:15

There are many underlying causes for the symptom known as insomnia. This conversation addresses several of them, including the most common mental causes. Mental chatter and emotional stress are two factors that can be controlled or minimized, thereby allowing you to fall asleep more easily and naturally, without needing to rely on chemical sleep aids. Learn from stories about Todd and Gina's clients, including how unresolved trauma can lead to chronic sleep issues and dependency on addictive sleep medications. Also, they offer some helpful tips to improve your sleep, including a simple and effective multi-sensory visualization technique that you have likely never heard of.

Did you know that anxiety is optional?

9m · Published 11 Apr 02:05

Anxiety is usually caused by certain beliefs and conditioning, and it can be eliminated if you know how to "undo" it. Sadly, tens of millions of people have been misled to believe that they must learn to cope with their anxiety. Or that their "chemical imbalance" is to blame and must be balanced by pharmaceutical drugs. While there are some exceptions, most anxiety is caused by something we're thinking or something we're doing. Once we change that (which is within our control), anxiety is fairly simple to resolve completely.
