Episode 45: What is essential?

8m · Published 05 May 10:00
Essential. For the last few months, this is a word we have very likely heard every day.

Today we want to talk about what we have found recently to be essential, and maybe NOT so essential in our own lives--and we invite you to do the same!

Over the next few months, we will start to ease back into our “normal”. But it will be a NEW normal...quite a bit will have changed. It’s important to decide what is ESSENTIAL to you right now, so you have already made up your mind on what is most important to you.

“Remember that if you don’t prioritize your life someone else will” -Greg McKeown

Episode 44: Three feet from gold

4m · Published 04 May 10:00
Think of a time in your life (we all have our moments!) where things got hard and you just wanted to QUIT. This is a natural feeling when we meet challenges, get uncomfortable, or maybe our task is NOT producing the rewards we had expected. It’s hard to spend time and money and energy over and over, and feel like we aren’t getting anywhere...so quitting often seems like the easiest option.

BUT...quitting is also a guaranteed way to not meet our goals. Today we tell the story of two gold miners who quit when things got tough, right before reaching their goal...and they were only THREE FEET from their fortune!!

Episode 43: What could you do differently?

2m · Published 01 May 10:00
Yay for Friday! As you know, every Friday we are giving you just a little bit of homework (we promise it's easy!) Instead of your daily challenge, we want you to write over the weekend.

Today's topic is to think back about how your week went--what you liked, what you didn't, what you accomplished, and even the things you didn't get to. Now, what could you change about the week? Write it down! Writing can help you sort through your thoughts and problem solve, setting you up for an even better week starting Monday.

Happy weekend!

Episode 42: A simple thank you (means more than you think)

2m · Published 30 Apr 10:00
"Thank you". A topic we have addressed multiple times...why? Because it's so easy, and so important! Today we talk about the impact a simple "thank you" can have on a stranger, and challenge you to thank every single person you come in contact with today.

We want to say thank YOU for listening! We love helping you start your day, and truly appreciate you sharing your time with us.

Episode 41: Let's get physical!

3m · Published 29 Apr 10:00
Since we started this podcast a few months ago, our focus has always been giving you small ideas to improve your mental health, your perspectives, and help you to practice being more mindful and aware as you go throughout your day.

But what we'd also like to occasionally remind you about, is the importance of taking care of your physical health as well. In today's episode, we give you just a few super easy ideas to improve your health today--pick just one, and see how you feel at the end of the day!

Episode 40: We are all Human

2m · Published 28 Apr 10:00
Small as a peanut,
Big as a giant,
We're all the same size
When we turn off the light.

Rich as a sultan,
Poor as a mite,
We're all worth the same
When we turn off the light.

Red, black or orange,
Yellow or white,
We all look the same
When we turn off the light.

So maybe the way,
To make everything right
Is for god to just reach out
And turn off the light!”
― Shel Silverstein

We are all just human. Doing our best! It can be easy right now to look around and feel frustrated because there are SO MANY varying opinions about what is right, and what is wrong, and who is doing it best.

It is important to step back and remember we all have more in common than it may initially seem, and we really are all doing our best.

Episode 39: How can you help?

5m · Published 27 Apr 10:00
Raise your hand if you are someone who likes to help out in tough situations?? Us too! It's hard to sit back and watch from the sidelines sometimes. There are SO MANY people who have stepped up to help during this pandemic--healthcare teams on the frontlines, grocery store employees keeping shelves stocked and stores clean, and so many others in our communities who are going the extra mile to keep us all up and running.

It can be easy to wonder what you can do to help if you aren't a "front line" worker. So today we bring in two guests--Chalyce and Abbey, and the four of us discuss ways EVERYONE can help during this time. We can help our families, our neighbors, and our communities--there is a job for everyone!

Episode 38: What has your work taught you?

4m · Published 24 Apr 10:00
In episode 28 we talked about the fact that we are living in the history books right now! We want to help you write your story. Every Friday we will give you an easy writing prompt to help get your wheels turning, and help you record your thoughts during this crazy time.

Today we want you to think about your current work. What has it taught you? Besides a monthly paycheck, what has it given you? Sheena and Kiarra share the silver linings they have both found in their jobs.

Episode 37: MeaningFULL Connections

4m · Published 23 Apr 10:00
While social distancing is certainly changing how we interact right now, we can still work to make meaningful connections with those we are quarantining with. Think of the people you are closest to--you most likely know their favorite movies, treats, and hobbies. To connect at an even deeper level AND bring up new conversation if you're tired of talking about the same thing;) , we give a few topic ideas to help you get started.
