#71. Chat with Tarin Calmeyer - Co-founder of Remote Team Wellness

1h 10m · Published 13 Jul 00:00

Today I'm chatting with the wonderful Tarin Calmeyer.  Tarin and I met when we were training to become yoga teachers and, thanks to the way she said 'hello', became instant friends. Tarin was all set for a career in dance, but an injury meant her path changed direction. She has studied Osteopathy, consulted 5-star resorts on their wellness programs, and lived all over the world.

In 2020, Tarin and her partner (now husband) were separated for 10 months due to lockdown, and to stay connected, started meditating together online. This sparked an idea that turned into them co-founding Remote Team Wellness, providing virtual employee wellness programs for companies across the globe, including Dell, Netflix and Microsoft, to name a few.

Tarin and I chat life seasons, being (perhaps a little too) comfortable with change, her take on wellness in the corporate sector, and how business owners can genuinely support their employees wellbeing.

#69 Meditation: Meeting emotions that are present (or stuck) in your body

15m · Published 15 Jun 00:00

This guided meditation will help you to be with emotions as they show up in your body. Rather than analysing the emotion, we meet it as physical sensation. Instead of judgment, we bring curiosity. Notice what a difference loving awareness makes.

This meditation is a great one if you've had a situation or event that 'caused' a reaction in your body like a 'lump in your throat' or 'weight on your chest' or 'butterflies in your tummy'.

But it can also be a good one just to check in with your inner experience and learn to hold space for whatever is present within you.

33m · Published 09 May 02:00

Menstrual Leave is becoming increasingly common across the world, including in Australia. To me, that's a good thing. But it's not completely simple. In this episode I chat about some of the ideas and questions you've shared with me, as well as some of the concerns about menstrual leave. Is it a positive step for feminism, or could it even set us back?  Have a listen, and get in touch to let me know what you think!

Menstrual Leave: How (and why) I brought it into my business

31m · Published 25 Apr 01:00

In today's episode I share about how and why I started offering menstrual leave in my business, Eve.  It came out of my personal experience of resting during my period, and seeing what a positive difference that made in my life. It was also about wanting to be part of the change that I believe we need in the world.

I talk about the practicality of bringing in menstrual leave, and the financial cost to the business.

Does your employer offer menstrual leave? Or if you have a business, do you offer menstrual leave to your team? I'd love to hear about it! Connect with me on instagram and let me know!

65. Is your goal TOO big?

28m · Published 27 Mar 23:00

In a world where goals are meant to be 'big, hairy and audacious', and where 'if your dream doesn't scare you, you're not dreaming big enough' this might be a controversial question... is your goal too big?

Now stay with me here.
I had a conversation with a dear friend in Nepal, and I asked him what he believed was the key to happiness. His answer (which I share in this episode) got me thinking about goals, and whether our goals actually enhance our lives? Not just in the future, when they're achieved, but now.

We know that the happiness that comes from achieving a goal fades over time, so it's worth considering whether our goals make us happy, or enrich our lives in some way, even as we're working towards them.

In this episode I share some questions you can ask yourself relating to your goals and dreams.  And I offer some suggestions for revising your goals to make them work for you, not just in the future, but right now.

64. Beware This Trap When Starting Something New

19m · Published 02 Mar 04:00

Today I'm sharing a little trap I've fallen into a number of times when starting new things.  It's a sneaky one that can undermine the success of getting something new - like a new routine or habit - off the ground.

And of course, I've got some ideas for how to avoid falling into this trap, and how to get out of it quickly if we happen to fall in.

63. Knowing When to Start

34m · Published 16 Feb 06:00

As I prepared to kick off Yes You for 2023, I got thinking about starting things. More specifically, about the timing for starting things.

Are you inclined to jump in with no hesitation? Or do you brew an idea for a while before you take action? Whether it's a business, a personal project or a new routine, giving some attention to when we start it can be the difference between a big success and a fizzle-out.

In this episode I share four tips to help you find the best timing for the next thing you start.

Keeping Your Vitality

24m · Published 20 Dec 02:00

As we approach the end of the year, things can get pretty busy, whether it's with work, family or the festivities of this time.  It's really easy to find ourselves running on empty.  The temptation may be to 'write ourselves off' until the new year - to stop trying to take care of ourselves amidst it all. But what does this mean for our relationship to ourselves? In this episode, the last one of the year, I encourage you to find ways to retain your energy, and to spend it deliberately. This practice is prescribed in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali as  a way to gain vitality.  I hope it serves you through this time, or any busy season you may face in life.
