433: 76 Year Old Man Assaults 14 Year Old At Beach | True Crime Daily Brief

2m · Published 26 Aug 09:00
Over the weekend, a 76-year-old Chicago man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a teen girl at the beach.

A 14-year-old girl and her family went to Montrose Beach on Saturday, Aug. 13, according to court documents cited by NBC Chicago. The prosecutor alleges that Juan Roldon convinced her to visit a bird sanctuary nearby when she was walking toward a public restroom.

Roldon reportedly pushed the teen into the bushes where he groped her and forced her to perform oral sex. The teen reportedly escaped and told her father about the incident.

Roldon was found within five minutes by the teen's father who confronted him about the alleged assault. When Roldon denied it, the father began punching him. When the teen pointed to a napkin that Roldon was reportedly using to wipe himself off, the girl's father started hitting him, according to NBC Chicago.

As a result of his arrest, he was charged with criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse, and unlawful restraint.

According to Cook County Jail records, he is being held without bond.

433: Man Who Collects Brains, Bones and Spleens, Arrested | True Crime Daily Brief

3m · Published 25 Aug 09:00
A 40-year-old man who collects bones and other human remains was arrested for allegedly trying to sell body parts on Facebook.

A report indicates that the East Pennsboro Township Police Department received a call on June 14 about suspicious activity in the 200 block of North Enola Road. On arrival, officers found Jeremy Pauley, who had allegedly been buying human body parts from a female in Arkansas.

The remains were found in Enola, Arkansas, and Scranton, and were reportedly being sold on Facebook.

According to reports, Pauley owns and operates The Grand Wunderkammer, which describes itself on Facebook as "Vendors of the odd and unusual, museum exhibits, guest lectures, live entertainment, and so much more!"."

Pauley's personal Facebook page shows buckets of bones and other remains, including femurs, vertebrae, a pelvis, clavicles, and "pounds and pounds of teeth."

The East Pennsboro Township Police Department, Cumberland County Forensics, and the Cumberland County Coroner's Office searched Pauley's home, according to court records cited by WHTM-TV. During their search, they found several large buckets containing human body parts, including skin, a heart, a spleen, two brains, two livers, two lungs, and other organs.

Pauley allegedly bought $4,000 worth of remains from the woman in Arkansas, including half a head, three brains with skull caps, one heart, four hands, a female pelvis, and more. According to police, he intended to resell the items.

The woman reportedly shipped the parts via the United States Postal Service. She allegedly stole the remains from a mortuary run by the University of Arkansas. The package was intercepted by Pennsylvania State Police in Scranton, Pennsylvania, according to WNEP-TV, which also cites court documents.

Pauley told detectives he collected "oddities," and police noted many of the relics were legitimate purchases.

It was reported that Pauley was released on $50,000 unsecured bail after being charged with abuse of a corpse, receiving stolen property, and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity.

433: Woman Kills 2 Year Old Son With Meth | True Crime Daily Brief

3m · Published 24 Aug 09:00
In Kansas City, a 36-year-old mother faces charges after her 2-year-old son was found dead with amphetamines in his system.

On Aug. 17, Kansas City Police Department officers performed a welfare check in the 6500 block of Paseo Boulevard, according to Jackson County court documents. According to the caller, the mother did not prevent the death of a child at the home.

Several residents of the residence were contacted by authorities after numerous attempts and asked to leave. One of them was identified as Michaela Chism, the deceased victim's mother.

One of Chism's children, a 3-year-old juvenile, was found asleep between the bathroom and bedroom inside the home. Chism's other child was found unresponsive lying on a bed with a blanket covering his body, court documents said. He was carried out without injury.

At the scene, the child was reportedly pronounced dead.

The home was searched and several uncapped syringes, glass pipes used for drugs, glass smoking devices, and foil strips with burned residue were found, according to court documents.

A glass pipe was recovered under a cheeseburger in the dining room, as well as food in various stages of decomposition.

According to reports, the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office found amphetamines in the deceased child's system.

During an interview, Chism told investigators she lived in the home for two weeks and consumed methamphetamine and fentanyl with the other occupants.

A report indicates Chism slept with her two sons on the living room couch and chair. Chism allegedly noticed that her child wasn't moving one day, and after police arrived for a welfare check, she moved her deceased son to the bedroom. In a panic, she placed him in the bed.

A $150,000 cash bond is requested by the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office for Chism, who was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree. Additional charges are possible.

433: Prison Inmate Dies After Swallowing Meth Balloon | True Crime Daily Brief

2m · Published 23 Aug 09:00
Nashville prison inmate dies, after accidentally consuming meth balloon passed to him through a kiss with his girlfriend.

The Tennessee Department of Correction says Rachal Dollard visited Joshua Brown at the Turney Center Industrial Complex in February. The two reportedly shared a kiss, and she "passed drugs to him" during the embrace. According to Brown, a balloon pellet containing half an ounce of meth was swallowed by him.

Later, he overdosed and died.

Deputies from the Dickson County Sheriff's Office and Tennessee Department of Correction special agents arrested Dollard over the weekend, and she was booked into the Hickman County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and introducing contraband into a penal facility.

As of 2029, Brown would have served an 11-year sentence for drug-related charges.

According to David Imhof, the director of the Office of Investigations and Conduct at the Tennessee Department of Correction, "This incident illustrates the real dangers of introducing contraband into prisons." Any individual who threatens the safety of our staff, the men and women in our custody, and our facilities will be prosecuted."

429: Man Stabs 2 People And A Dog 30 Years Ago, Finally Arrested | True Crime Daily Brief

4m · Published 22 Aug 15:00
After stabbing two people and a dog 30 years ago, a 51-year-old man was taken into custody.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Tony Haase was arrested and charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of Timothy Mumbrue and Tanna Togstad.

Mumbrue, Togstad, and their dog were found fatally stabbed at Togstad's residence on March 21, 1992. DNA testing helped lead to Haase's arrest, and the Division of Criminal Investigation had been investigating the deaths since then.

According to the criminal complaint, Togstad and Mumbrue were found dead in the bedroom of her Royalton home in Waupaca County. Detectives reportedly found foreign bodily fluids on Togstad's body as well as a single homicidal stab wound that perforated her left lung.

As a result of the attack, Mumbrue's heart and lungs were perforated. He was reportedly "homicidally stabbed" with wounds to the head, neck, and chest.

While there were signs of a struggle, the deaths did not appear to be the result of a theft or burglary, according to the criminal complaint.

Following the deaths, investigators tested evidence at the scene and collected DNA from "many individuals-of-interest", and Haase was ultimately identified as the suspect.

As a result of a traffic stop on July 6, 2022, officials collected a DNA sample from Haase. The lab detected a "major male contributor" and analysis determined the DNA was consistent with the profile previously detected from the bodily fluids recovered from Togstad's body.

Haase revealed to investigators that his father knew Togstad's father. Although he claimed to have had nothing to do with the murders, he then had memories of "snippets/blurbs" that he attributed to the murders around the time of Togstad's and Mumbrue's deaths.

"These 'snippets' included remembering walking down the house's front steps and vomiting in the yard," the criminal complaint said.

Haase's father died in 1977 in a snowmobile accident with two others. The second snowmobile hit his father's vehicle, killing him. The third snowmobile ran over the second one, resulting in a "horrible accident."

Togstad's father was reportedly one of the other two drivers.

Haase was allegedly drunk on March 20, 1992, when he began thinking about his father's death. He went to Togstad's house, but "insisted it was not for harm."

Haase allegedly got into a "scuffle" with Mumbrue, and he "couldn't remember if he had brought a knife or if it was at home," but he "moved his arm in a stabbing motion toward Mumbrue's chest."

Apparently, Mumbrue fell to the ground, and Togstad screamed, "What the f--k?" Haase punched her in the face, knocking her unconscious, and then stabbed her.

According to Haase, he didn't tell investigators what happened because he "didn't want it to sound like it was planned."

He reportedly thought, "Holy f--k, what did I do?" after seeing the news report about their deaths.

Haase faces a life sentence if convicted.
