444: Woman Claim's Arrest Because Of Being "Too Pretty" | True Crime Podcast

1m · Published 10 Sep 15:00
A woman, 28, who is accused of doing the "dinner and dash" at the airport says the police are harassing her because they have "never seen someone as pretty as her."

Police said Hend Bustami went to the Las Vegas airport Chili's but didn't pay, as reported by KLAS-TV. The staff at the restaurant alerted the police, who conducted a search but couldn't find her.

According to the complaint, law enforcement was informed by TSA agents that a "female matching that description was witnessed napping near the security checkpoint, obstructing their operations."

According to KTNV-TV, which also relies on the police report, Bustami fled the scene but was located at a baggage carousel. When confronted by police, she allegedly became "belligerent with officers" and claimed that she was being singled out for harassment because "cops [had] never seen somebody as gorgeous as her."

After being arrested, Bustami allegedly threatened to "spit on all" of the police officers because they were "perverts and were trying to rape her" since they "never saw somebody this nice looking."

A $1,000 bond was placed on her when she was arrested and taken into the Clark County Detention Center. She apparently had an active warrant for her arrest issued by the Las Vegas Municipal Court, according to KLAS.

444: Future School Shooter Leaves Dead Animals On Sandy Hook Memorial | True Crime Daily Brief

2m · Published 09 Sep 15:00
Man, age 29, was taken into custody and accused with vandalizing a monument for victims of a school massacre by placing dead animals on the site.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office reports that a crossing guard discovered a dead duck with its chest cavity sliced open on a bench in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Memorial Garden on July 20. According to reports, a dead raccoon was discovered on a school bench the day after, on July 21, and a deputy found a dead opossum on July 31.

The Sheriff's Office claims that on July 30 at around 11 p.m., they used security footage to see a white Nissan with black rims drive up toward the memorial. A male driver was spotted getting out of the car and strolling up to the passenger side. It is said that he visited the memorial before leaving in his car.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a deputy observed the identical Nissan on July 31 and conducted a traffic stop. Robert Mondragon, the driver, allegedly informed the deputy that he liked "the metal and blood scent that come from the dead animal" when asked why he had feathers and blood on the front passenger side floorboard of his vehicle.

The Sheriff's Office claimed they learned that Mondragon had a "disturbing fixation with mass school shootings" after investigating the incident and discovering that he had purposely placed the dead animals on the memorial for the Parkland school shooting.

Reportedly, authorities recovered his phone and discovered images of Mondragon holding the dead duck with its breast cavity cut open and an image of a dead raccoon on the floorboard of his vehicle.

Police say that "Mondragon's facial tattoos match those of Tate Langdon, the character from 'American Horror Story' based on the Columbine High School shooting."

Authorities searching Mondragon reportedly discovered writings and internet searches related to school shootings, methods for breaching steel doors, mass shootings, pipe bombs, and "slang words for killing officers."

Mondragon allegedly followed the identical route that the MSD school shooter did on February 14, 2018—from Marjory Stoneman Douglas School to Walmart—two weeks before the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Mondragon was detained and charged with removing or disfiguring a tomb or monument, violating probation for battery and indecent exposure, and violating a risk protection order. He is still being held without bond.

444: HS Coach Arrested For Creating Deep Fake Porno With Childrens Faces | True Crime Daily Brief

2m · Published 08 Sep 15:00
A former high school lacrosse coach, 44, was arrested for allegedly using photo editing software to place the faces of minors on pornographic images of youngsters.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children apparently tipped off the Massachusetts State Police, who began monitoring Ryan Cook's residence and online activity after receiving a report from WCVB-TV. Multiple photographs of alleged child pornography were allegedly discovered in his possession.

According to reports, police conducted a search warrant at Cook's residence on August 30 and took electronic devices as evidence. There was a claim that the youngsters depicted in the photos were between the ages of five and eleven.

According to state police, as quoted by WCVB: "In some of these photographs, the children were positioned in a sexual suggestive way and/or were being sexually attacked."

Photoshopped images of women superimposed over child pornography were also purportedly discovered by investigators. Two girls from his neighborhood were allegedly depicted in the manipulated images, according to WCVB.

Allegedly, Cook was detained and accused with having pornographic images of minors on his person. It was reported by Mass Live that he was released after posting bail in the amount of $10,000. However, the prosecution has asked that $100,000 be established as bail for Cook.

According to reports, Cook volunteered his time to instruct lacrosse at Wellesley High School for boys.

According to a statement obtained by WCVB, the school system acknowledged that "Wellesley Public Schools is aware that a Wellesley resident, who had previously served as a volunteer with our WHS Boy's Lacrosse team, has been charged with possession of child pornography by the Massachusetts State Police."

In court, you can expect to see Cook on September 30.

444: Man On Meth Goes On Motor Murder Spree | True Crime Podcast

2m · Published 07 Sep 15:00
A 47-year-old man is suspected of being high on methamphetamine when he stole a police car and led authorities on a chase.

An officer with the Poteet Police Department had his automobile rear-ended on Sunday, September 4 at around 6 p.m., according to a press release from the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office. Officer chased down suspect who had run into him, then suspect allegedly slammed police car from front again.

The Sheriff's Department said that the police cruiser had broken down, and that bystanders had assisted the officer in getting out of the vehicle.

Police reportedly gave chase to the man, later identified as Reynaldo Ruiz, and caught him after a short foot chase.

The Sheriff's Office claims that after being handcuffed and placed in the backseat of a Poteet Police Department vehicle, Ruiz escaped. A second attempt to detain Ruiz failed after he apparently jumped into a police car and sped off in the direction of a fire engine and its occupants.

According to reports, a trooper fired three rounds into Ruiz's stolen police cruiser out of fear that he was about to hit a firetruck.

Before continuing down Main Street in Pleasanton, Ruiz allegedly changed lanes and narrowly avoided colliding with a passing motorist. Due to the suspect's attempts to endanger other officers and the public, a deputy sheriff opened fire on him as he drove north on Main Street, the sheriff's office reports.

According to reports, Ruiz eventually crashed into another police vehicle and was subsequently tased. Sheriff's officials said that after Ruiz was taken to the hospital, he was arrested on two charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and one count of felony escape.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Ruiz indicated in an interview that he intended to strike "as many police cars and cops as he could." The long "Methamphetamine binge" that Ruiz admitted to is another admission of guilt.

443: Abducted Jogger Found Dead | Breaking News

4m · Published 06 Sep 21:08
After a days-long search, a 34-year-old teacher who was allegedly kidnapped while on the run was apparently found dead this week.

The Memphis Police Department was summoned at 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 2 to help the University of Memphis Police Department in identifying a missing person, Eliza "Liza" Fletcher. Fletcher was jogging at Central and Zach Curlin around 4:20 a.m. when a "unknown man approached her" and "forced" her into an SUV, according to Memphis Police.

Cleotha Abston, 38, was arrested two days later on accusations of exceptionally aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence, but Fletcher remained missing. During the investigation, Cleotha's brother, Mario Abston, was reportedly detained on drug charges, but he is "not believed to be involved to Fletcher's kidnapping."

According to inmate records, Abston is also charged with identity theft, tampering with/faking evidence, theft of property, and fraudulent use/illegal possession of a credit/debit card.

On Tuesday, September 6, Memphis Police said they discovered Fletcher's body in the 1600 block of Victor Street and charged Abston with first-degree murder and first-degree murder in the commission of kidnapping, in addition to the other criminal charges he faces.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis and other law enforcement officials said that Fletcher's remains had been discovered in an abandoned duplex in South Memphis. According to WREG-TV Abston was allegedly spotted cleaning out his black SUV near where Fletcher was discovered.

During the press conference, Davis stated that detectives "haven't obtained very much information" from Abston during questioning.

According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Fletcher was a junior kindergarten teacher at St. Mary's Episcopal School and previously taught at Promise Academy in Nashville. Her spouse, Richard Fletcher III, and she have two children. He reported her missing after she did not return from her run a few hours later.

According to the Commercial Appeal's affidavit, Fletcher was running on the University of Memphis campus when a black GMC Terrain drove by her and paused, waiting for her to pass.

According to the affidavit, "A male left the black GMC Terrain, raced aggressively at the victim, and then forced Eliza Fletcher into the vehicle's passenger side. There looked to be a fight throughout this kidnapping."

Abston was released from prison in November 2020 after serving a 24-year sentence for aggravated abduction.

Fletcher's grandpa, Joseph "Joe" Orgill III, controlled a large hardware distribution empire, according to WREG.

In a statement, Fletcher's family said, "This terrible loss has broken our hearts and devastated us. Liza brought excitement to everyone she met, including her family, friends, colleagues, students, parents, members of her Second Presbyterian Church congregation, and everyone else who knew her.

Now is the moment to remember and celebrate how amazing she was, as well as to assist those who loved her so deeply. We are grateful for all of the messages of love and care that have been sent our way. We are eternally grateful to local, state, and federal law enforcement for their persistent efforts to find Liza and bring the perpetrator of this heinous act to justice.

We hope that everyone, especially media representatives, understands the family's need to grieve privately and without outside interference during this difficult time."

440: Abused 99 Year-Old-Grandma's Body Still Missing | True Crime Daily Brief

2m · Published 06 Sep 14:00
Police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating a missing 99-year-old woman who they believe was murdered and then abandoned in the mountains.

The West Valley City Police Department issued a statement encouraging people to search the area for evidence related to Maren Carlson's disappearance, especially now that autumn and hunting season are approaching, two popular times that "bring more Utahns to the mountains."

Garman Shaun Cunningham, Carlson's grandson, police believe, murdered her and "disposed" of her body in the mountainous area.

According to West Valley Police, on November 12, 2021, a woman called 911 to report that she had escaped after her husband, Cunningham, held her hostage in her home. Cunningham allegedly told the unnamed woman that he killed Carlson, who lived in their home.

According to KSL-TV, the woman claimed Cunningham "beat her, cut her with knives, burned her with cigarettes, and cut her with broken glass."

He allegedly strangled her "multiple times during her captivity," handcuffed her to a chair, threatened her with a gun, and strangled her "multiple times during her captivity."

Cunningham allegedly shot his gun inside the house before fleeing with a sword when police arrived to arrest him. He was eventually pursued and apprehended by a K-9.

According to court documents cited by KSL, Cunningham allegedly tried to smother Carlson before beating her. He allegedly caused her head to "cave in" and repeatedly threw her down the stairs. He is also accused of stabbing her with a piece of her broken walker and a steak knife.

During the investigation, West Valley Police said detectives believe Cunningham dumped Carlson's body near the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest near SR 150 or SR 35. Several law enforcement agencies conducted searches for Carlson's body but were unable to locate her.

Cunningham was arrested in December 2021 for aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, obstructing justice, aggravated assault, and illegal discharge of a firearm, according to reports. He allegedly committed suicide while in custody in March 2022.
