Want a really honest truth about today's episode?...I ALMOST didn't record it. Life has been a little (okay a lot) hectic to say the least. I have been trying to record this podcast since last Thursday and each time that I did I felt like I had nothing to say. 

"You could just miss a week."

"No one would even notice." 

"You've been so consistent, what's one week going to do?"

These were the exact thoughts that ran through my mind these last few days and I almost let them win. But then I remember that messy action is always better than no action.

RED FLAGS OF INVESTING + HOW TO KNOW WHEN TO INVEST 

Here's what I have learned from continuously investing in my business over the last 6 years; there is no such thing as a bad investment there are sometimes however expensive lessons...which you wouldn't have received any other way. 

I have have invested in coaches that completely changed my life and my business. I have invested in containers and walked away with resentment having no idea what I actually got out of it. I have also invested in containers that were meh...not great, not bad, just somewhere in the middle. 

As easy as it can be to get upset about the ones that we are quick to label as "bad," every single one of them served my in some way. 

Not only has it taught me a lot about myself and how I want to run my business personally, it has also taught me a lot about when I know if an investment is right for me or not. Which is why on today's episode we are diving into the red flags of investing.

We can be upset and angry at ourselves or the coach and completely discount the whole experience feeling resentful to the investment. OR we can zoom out and look for the lessons or the other takeaways that we were able to receive from it. (Even if it's not what we signed up for.) 

There is only one of those options that will continue to expand you and your business. I know which one I will choose every time, what about you?

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARE SELLING, BUT THINGS AREN'T SELLING 

Would you believe me if I told you that I once told my mom "I feel like I can't even PAY someone to buy my offer." Because I did....no jokes. 

I was year three into my business (while also working full time in corporate) and DESPERATELY wanted to be in my business full time.

Yet it seemed no matter what I did, how often I posted, how many people I talked to I was still stuck in the $3-5k/month mark.

Which don't get me wrong it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't enough to replace my corporate salary and feel safe jumping into my business full time. 

What I have learned and what I want to share with you today are the most common reasons for why we are hearing crickets when we sell and what to do about it. 

On today's episode we are talking all things:

THE KEY TO STANDING OUT IN A SATURATED MARKET 

In true Jess fashion I am going to give it to you straight: just because you have a business doesn't mean that you have a brand. 

I think too often we confuse growing our business as one and the same as growing our brand, but they are entirely two different aspects. 

It's often when we focus on growing our business that we can find ourselves:

  •  Comparing ourselves to other's in the industry, not sure why someone would pick us over another coach
  • Feeling like we aren't original and neither are the programs we want to create (so we don't) 
  •  Don't know what it is that we do differently from anyone else 

And alllll of that just leads to us living in constant fear of the market "being too saturated" which is absolutely false... 

When you place your focus on building a BRAND that is! 

So on today's episode we are talking all about: 

  • What does it mean to grow your brand vs. your business
  • What does it actually mean to grow your brand 
  • The importance of growing your brand 
  • How to stand out online so you NEVER have to worry about the market being "too saturated"

Think of it this way...

Not a business.

WHAT I WISH I KNEW WHEN FINDING MY NICHE

As an industry we are taught the importance of needing to niche down, often feeling like the success of our business depends on it. 

Those 150 characters can feel like a 150 pound weight that we carry around in our minds. 

Constantly worrying that we don’t have our businesses truly figured out until we know what our niche is. 

Today I am going to give you the simplest way to nail your niche...without even having to think about your niche at all. This is EXACTLY what I wish I would have known and what would have helped me save HOURS of my time that I wasted on trying to create the perfect instagram bio; while simultaneously feeling like it was far from perfect.

  • The secret to finding your niche without needing to know who your niche actually

HOW TO NAIL YOUR NICHE 

 

Does it feel like nailing your niche is the missing puzzle piece to your business? You have everything else figured out but it seems no matter how many times you try to perfect your instagram bio it never quite feels like you. 

So it can be hard to not have thoughts creep in like: "how the heck am I going to get any clients when I don't even know who it is that I help!" 

As an industry we have been force fed the idea that if you don't have a niche you can kiss getting rich buh-bye. So we put this pressure on ourselves to perfect what it is that we do and all that we are into 150 characters of our instagram bios. Only to feel like we are missing the best parts of us. 

And like you, I spent the first few years of building my business the same way.

For the longest time in my business I held myself back from talking about everything that I wanted to be known for. 

I thought there was no wayyyyy I could talk about spirituality, energetics, female empowerment, healing, chakras, and spirit guides; while also talking about creating bomb ass content, offers that you are obsessed with, how to sell without selling and why clarity is far more important than consistency. 

Right?

Which is why I am here to call BS!

One of the MAIN reasons why people don't buy our offers is not because we don't know what we are doing, or that there are other's out there doing it "better" than us but it's likely that they don't understand the value of what it that that we are offering. 

The value is what clearly communicates to your dream clients that they need this NOW...and when I mean NOW I mean right now, like yesterday now. 

Here’s the catch
the value isn’t found in what someone gets when they work with you it’s found in the TRANSFORMATION they get because of working with you! 

Think of it this way: 

You wouldn’t go to a bakery to buy the ingredients to buy a cookie. 

You go to the bakery to buy the softest, melt in your mouth just the perfect amount of chocolate chip, chocolate chip cookies. 

Your ideal client doesn’t want to buy the ingredients, they want to buy the finished product!

Which is why on today's episode we are talking all things: 

  • Understanding what is the value of the transformation that you provide
  • Why speaking to the tangibles of your offer is leaving money on the table
