Simple Reflection Practices to Support Your Creativity + Life

16m · Published 21 Jan 10:00

Reflection is an essential part of tapping into your creativity - slowing down is the only way to hear your own inner voice, and what you really desire. In the midst of your busy life, it’s easy not to make time for it, but your reflection practice can be as simple or complex as it needs to be!

I share my practices for checking in with myself on a weekly and monthly basis (which are in this free PDF for you), as well as other reflection prompts for creative inspiration.

What are your reflection practices? Tag me on Instagram @rebecca_hass (or send me an email) to share!

Mini-sode: Following curiosity to soothe the nervous system

8m · Published 14 Jan 10:00

I share a real-life example of how I used curiosity and process-focused creativity to help soothe my nervous system this week, by taking a "sensory walk" around my neighborhood and improvising at the piano. Small actions may work better than we think. Solidarity to my fellow overactive-brained, anxious folks out there! 💖

I'm trying out this casual mini episode format on the weeks between regular episodes. Let me know what you think, I always welcome your feedback!

My Word for 2022 + Planning the New Year Slowly

17m · Published 07 Jan 19:14

I love the practice of choosing a theme word for a year, as a way of setting new year intentions. It can be a wonderful filter for what feels aligned to do and create, whether in place of or along with planning goal setting. In this episode I share how my 2021 word turned out, the inspiration behind my new word for 2022, as well as some affirmation for opting to minimize or defer goal setting if that feels right for you.

Did you pick a word for 2022, or previous years? What’s been your experience with it? Tag me on Instagram @rebecca_hass (or send me an email), and we can share ideas!

[REPLAY] Feeding Your Creativity in the Winter Season

15m · Published 31 Dec 10:00

We don’t have to expect ourselves to constantly be actively producing creative work - creative projects have seasonal cycles, too. But even in the dormancy of winter (literal or metaphorical), you can still feed your creativity, and this phase is just as important as the others. In this episode I share many ways that you can consume, digest, and “fertilize the soil” to pave the way for your next project.

What’s feeding your creativity right now? What’s inspiring you? Tag me on Instagram @rebecca_hass, and we can share ideas!

[REPLAY] Finding Magic in Dark Times

15m · Published 24 Dec 10:00

In this episode I share where I’ve been finding magic lately, and how a daily walk could be very mundane, but is not...if you choose to make it more interesting. The simple practice of taking a “noticing walk” can fill you with wonder and could maybe even change the course of your day (or at least your morning).

This is my invitation to you to follow your curiosity and find the things that fill you with wonder, as tiny as those might be!

[REPLAY] Compassionate Productivity Tips to Help You Cope With Being Busier

22m · Published 10 Dec 10:00

It’s often challenging to practice compassionate productivity as you’re trying to prioritize your creative practice and other important things in your life, but it can be even harder when you’re transitioning into a busier schedule or lifestyle - we may be finding ourselves with the overwhelming schedule equivalent of loaded-up plates at a buffet! Here are 8 of my favorite compassionate productivity tips for transitioning as gracefully as possible, and replenishing your energy with intentionality and self-kindness.

[REPLAY] Embrace Doing Less During the Darker Season

18m · Published 03 Dec 10:00

For many of us, the winter (and holiday) season comes with lower energy but higher expectations, and the dissonance of that can be really challenging. In this episode I invite you to question your assumptions about how much you have to get done, how many priorities you need to have, and how you treat yourself around that. Listen in to learn some tangible ways to do less that don’t involve throwing everything out, and are easy to try!

What does doing less look like for you in this season? What’s nourishing you? Tag me on Instagram @rebecca_hass and we can share ideas!

Shulamit Ber Levtov on Curiosity, Self Compassion, and Shared Humanity as Tools for Mental Health

52m · Published 26 Nov 10:00

I had a wonderful chat with Shulamit Ber Levtov, the “Entrepreneur’s Therapist”, who has been working in the field of mental health and personal growth for more than 21 years, helping hundreds of people recover their resilience after experiencing stress and trauma. She has also been an entrepreneur for more than 27 years, and in 2017, founded an award-winning holistic stress and trauma clinic in Kemptville, Ontario.

Tune in to hear us talk about why mindset isn’t everything, what psychologically healthy mindset work looks like, curiosity as a key component of self compassion, the feeling of enoughness, sharing as a way that we help other people, and lots of other mental health and creativity-related stuff - this is a lovely conversation that I hope you will love!
