Dr. Jeff Spencer | The Champion's Blueprint

45m · Published 07 Oct 10:00

After meeting at the Archangel event and being touched by his story, I am so glad to have Dr. Jeff Spencer on the show today. As a member of the 1972 Olympic cycling team, a masters degree in sports medicine from USC, and a leader in the high performance field for over forty years, Jeff has a lot to share with us in terms of his own journey to excellence and how he leads  others to a life of wellness and success.

  • Learn how champions handle challenges and obstacles

Adam Sud | Nutrition For Addiction

38m · Published 02 Sep 10:00

“If I am the cause of my problem, I am also the solution.”

After seeing him speak at a sober living facility, I knew That God had brought Adam Sud into my life for a higher purpose. Adam is a holistic lifestyle coach for recovering addicts where he teaches nutrition and wellness as methods of relapse prevention and today he will share with us his journey of recovery and his path to holistic health and healing.

When Adam checked in to a recovery facility, he was a three-hundred pound, amphetamine addicted Type-2 diabetic. Although he had a happy childhood in Houston, Texas, he felt pressure from his family to live a healthy lifestyle.

But sometimes, as children, when we hear that Oreos are bad for us what we really internalize is that we are bad for wanting that food in the first place. Adam developed self-image issues resulting in a junk food and drug dependency.

“The best medicine is always what’s on your fork.” Adam Sud

Within just six months of checking in to a recovery facility, Adam reversed his diabetes, got down to one hundred and seventy pounds, and is now celebrating two and half years sober. As Adam changed his lifestyle, he began to recognize his self-worth and has now started to shine his light of awareness and wellness onto others.

I really identify with Adam’s story as I’ve seen with my own eyes the way that recovering drug addicts can transfer from one addiction to another. Food is an addiction. Feed your body what is clean, pure, and real and that will translate to your mind, body, and spirit. At the end of the day, your lifestyle habits do not reflect or define who you are as a person. With the right positive changes, you can allow your true self to shine through.

“Movement matters.”

Frank Ferrante | Hungry For Change

55m · Published 19 Aug 10:00

Today, I have the pleasure of speaking with a very special guest, international spokesperson for personal transformation and weight loss, Frank Ferrante. Featured in two major documentaries including May I Be Frank? and Hungry For Change, Frank’s resume is extensive. From an illegal narcotics distributor, a cab driver, and a general contractor to an actor, recovered alcoholic junkie, and a vegan raw foodist, Frank has had quite the journey to get where he is now and today he shares some of the lessons he learned on his journey to physical and spiritual healing.

After thirty years involved with drugs and alcohol, Frank finally reached a point where he could no longer live the way he was living, but he couldn’t see a way out. He surrendered himself to God and started a 12-step program. But even when he quit drugs and alcohol, he found problems with sex and overeating. Frank found that, even when he was sober, the underlying pain that caused him to seek drugs in the first place still remained.

At 300 pounds, Frank had isolated himself from those he cared about because he didn’t care about himself. After stumbling in to Café Gratitude, a raw-food restaurant, he embarked on a life-changing journey of weight loss and transformation over 42 days. Again, Frank surrendered to God and signed a contract with the owners of the restaurant that he would commit to a raw food diet, daily affirmations, and weekly colonics.

After just a week and a half, Frank felt a shift in himself. He turned his personal pain into personal power by stumbling into grace. What once seemed insurmountable was within his grasp because he had help. With help from others, he recognized that he was not alone and that it was not food or drugs that were the problem, but instead his relationship to himself and to food ad drugs that needed to change.

Today, Frank works to help others realize their potential for change and works to cultivate humility within himself daily. He now helps others to realize that they are not incomplete and that they need only to nurture themselves to blossom into who they were meant to be. Achieving balance in all things is key to a more present life.

If you would like to reach out to Frank, you can get in touch with him at [email protected]

Ruby Fremon | How to Release Toxic Patterns and Reignite Your Life

28m · Published 05 Aug 10:00

After hearing Ruby at the Archangel Academy, I knew I wanted to share with my audience her story of radical growth and transformation through love. Ruby has struggled with anxiety, depression, and a lack of self-love for a long time, but through realizing her worth she has found peace, love, and acceptance.

Today, Ruby Freemon is a transformational coach and a healer, but back before she hit her rock bottom, you may not have recognized her. Although she came from a loving, supportive home, she always felt there was a sadness that followed and was slowly enveloping her. She didn’t know what it was at the time, but she later learned that she had depression and anxiety.

After an addiction to prescription drugs and alcohol turned to harder drugs, alcohol, and toxic relationships, Ruby hit rock bottom. She was working in the night life as a promoter and after a traumatic physical injury it suddenly hit her: You created this.

She was only living the life that she thought she deserved. This awareness propelled her forward towards life and self-love as she began to recognize her worth. If you are someone who also struggles with depression or anxiety, here are Ruby’s top tips that she recommends to her coaching clients to help you to rebuild your life:

  1. Be proactive
  2. Practice affirmations
  3. Eating healthy
  4. Recognize patterns

Try out a few of these strategies and see which one works best for you and allow the universe to help you throughout this journey to self-love and ultimate wellness. The universe is not against you; you only need to work with it and let it support you and you will go far. Remember that people do care- you are not alone.

A Path To Healing: Overcoming An Addicted Family Member

33m · Published 15 Jul 10:00

Today I have the pleasure of speaking with a good friend and fellow colleague, Lisa. After meeting at a modeling job and getting to know each other on the job,  Lisa and I both realized that we share a similar struggle: living with a parent who is an addict.

Many people with parents who are addicts feel ashamed about their struggle. Our hope is that sharing our paths with an audience will encourage people to start talking more openly about addiction and the impact it has on people.

After a recent move to the East Coast and surrounding herself with positive people, Lisa is the happiest she has ever been. But growing up in southern California she didn't have such a charmed life. Lisa’s father has struggled with a heroin addiction dating back to his high school years. My own father has been struggling for the last ten years with a crack addiction so I can relate to the frustration and helplessness that comes from having a parent with an addiction.

Even at her darkest time as she ran with her sister to the church across the street to pray as her father held a knife to her mother, Lisa found strength and peace through her faith and spirituality. At the end of the day, addiction is a disease and as much as we can try to fix the person, we can't make them change. It's something they have to realize for themselves.

After years of draining herself of energy and happiness, Lisa has realized that while she loves her father very much that she has to first and foremost invest in her own happiness. By feeding her mind, body, and soul with a healthy lifestyle and surrounding herself with positive people, Lisa is finally detaching herself from the codependency that comes with loving an addict and is on a path to healing.

My hope is that anyone listening to Lisa’s story who either battles an addiction or lives with an addict can find solace and comfort in knowing that they are not alone.  It's never too late to change and its never to late to seek help.

Kelsey Wong | Delivering Happiness

35m · Published 08 Jul 10:00

I recently had the pleasure of talking with Kelsey Wong, connector, creator and community activator for Delivering Happiness. After meeting at the Higher Purpose Project, I just knew that I would get the chance to get to work with Kelsey and get to know her better.

Growing up in an Asian-American family, Kelsey didn’t always feel as though she could truly express herself and who she is as a person. With a strained relationship between her and her mom, she often felt that she had to hide her joy. This inner turmoil led her to leave her hometown and distance herself from her early experiences.

“If you don’t know who you are, how will you change the world?” @KelseyWong

After suffering a devastating heartbreak following college, Kelsey fell in to a depression. While in Mexico with her friends on  January 1, 2014, she met a holistic herbal thing coach and started on her path to find forgiveness, feel compassion, and set boundaries. She found the life she needed through her coach and was inspired to shine her light on the world.

Even while remaining busy, active, and ambitious, Kelsey finds ways to stay centered and to stay connected to her true self by feeding her mind, body, and spirit.

Now Kelsey’s main focus is sustaining Delivering Happiness as a business and helping others struggling on their personal journey to find alignment and truth.

“It’s a disservice for you not to share your unique gifts with the world.” @KelseyWong

Cara Yar Khan talks HIBM and Fighting The Stigma of Disability

15m · Published 01 Jul 10:00

I had the pleasure to sit down and talk with Cara E. Yar Khan UNICEF, Child Protection Specialist. Cara joined UNICEF in 2007, after working 6 years with the U.N. World Food Program in Ecuador, Dell Inc. in Panama and as a private consultant in China. From UNICEF Angola, she was transferred to UNICEF China to support the Sichuan Earthquake Emergency Operation. This was followed by UNICEF assignments in Botswana, Madagascar, Mozambique, Thailand and most recently, Haiti, where she served as the Resource Mobilization Specialist and Disability Focal Point for two years.

At the age of 30 was diagnosed with a very rare recessive genetic condition, Hereditary Inclusion Body Myopathy (HIBM). HIBM is an adult-onset progressive muscle-wasting disease which affects all skeletal muscles, typically leading to incapacity within 10-15 years. There are fewer than 1,000 known patients worldwide and at present, there is no approved treatment or cure. Thirteen years after her initial onset, the first fall, Cara now walks with the aid of leg braces and a walker.

If you think that was going to stop her....YOU ARE WRONG! Her diagnosis has only strengthened her mission to reach more platforms to fight the stigma of disability.

Cara is a true angel on earth and I am humbled by her grace. Take a few minutes to listen to her inspirational story.
