Ep 81 Avoiding avoidance. How to face up to your issues?
17m · PublishedAs humans, we have a tendency to try and distance ourselves from discomfort.
No one wants to feel pain.
(well, maybe some of you π)
When we associate any emotions with discomfort and pain, it is natural for us to move away.
And our favourite escape routes are denial & distraction.
Ouch π§
Why is that?
Back where we were hunter-gatherers running away from the threat was a valid response and often the only one we had.
However, much of the modern threat is associated with stress, our reactions to it & internally caused stress.
And to add to the injury. We also get stressed by our own stress.
The question then is, how do we fight those internal threats?
Most of us attempt to distract ourselves by binge shopping, working out, Netflix & chill, overworking & ____________ (fill in the gap).
πΌ πΉππ'π ππππ πΆπ·πππ πππ, π·ππ πΌ π½πΆππ πΉπππ πΎπ.
Consider that escaping the problem leaves the problem unaddressed.
It is like putting a plaster on an infected wound without sterilising it.
How long do you think it will take before that wound starts bothering you or causing an infection?
We can only escape the problem as long as the activity last, so it is a temporary solution.
When we stop and spend some time alone, with our thoughts & emotions, the problem floods back OFTEN AT FULL SPEED.
Avoiding pain only perpetuates it in the long term.
Whereas mindfulness lets you learn and draw from your so-called negative emotions.
The question remains, what can you do?
There are a number of options, and obviously, I will name hypnosis as one of them.

Ep 80 Are you dealing with stress in the most effective way?
14m · PublishedStress has become a fact of life.
I think that is CRAZY.
We normalised living in the struggle.
We got so used to being stressed that many people live balancing between stress & chronic stress.
I don't think I have to say that stress affects our bodies in profound ways.
Starting from high blood pressure, depression, headaches, and sleep problems to lack of focus, impaired cognitive abilities and fertility problems.
And although our bodies are amazing at supporting us, how do you take care of yourself?
Are you taking good care of the vessel (aka your body)?
Perhaps you eat too much or not enough.
Maybe you drink too much to cope with life.
How about numbing with Netflix or shopping (name your poison)?
All of that are coping strategies to deal with emotions, feelings, and things we don't want to deal with.
And with stress being so present in our lives, those coping strategies are being tested.
It's not the lion chasing us for breakfast anymore.
It's the boss.
Your partner.
Your financial situation.
The state of the world.
Problems with kids.
So many different stressors.
The question is, how do you deal with it?
Doing your daily practices when life is good is easy.
How does your practice look when life is not so good?
For me, it's doubling down on my practices.

πgratitude
πmove away from the stressors as and when feasible, as fast as possible
For everyone who is in business, building a career or just enjoying life. Stress can be a barrier to a happy, joyful and fulfilling life.

You may be thinking, what on earth, Ewelina, how does that relate to business, building a career, working on our relationships etc., as adults?
Let me say EVERYTHING.
I don't know about you, but I didn't have good role models in my life.
I learned from an early age how to live in a scarcity mindset, how not to be confident, and feel less than & not worthy of my dreams.
Not a good set of stories and beliefs if you ask me.
However, it is never too late to start 'parenting yourself' and rewire your beliefs, stories and habits that will support you and your goals.
Learn how to give yourself what you need.
Learn to love yourself.
That one alone took some work, but it made all the difference.

30m · PublishedAs I have learned, most of our limiting beliefs, emotional pain, addictions, shopping therapy, mental fixations etc., are underpinned by the belief, I AM NOT ENOUGH.
Whatever the not enough is for you.
πnot good enough
πnot slim enough
πnot smart enough
πnot successful enough

This belief couldn't be further from the truth, yet it haunts many of us.
We usually adopt this belief early on and live by it for decades, often not even realising that this is the actual problem causing us pain.
Failed relationships, career issues, money struggles or anger issues, depression, and anxiety are the symptoms.
Yes, symptoms.
The actual problem is the belief that we are not good enough.
However, with hypnosis & many other tools that I teach my clients, we can change that.
Neuroplasticity comes in very handy here.

Have you paused and examined your beliefs?

Or perhaps you have left room for some MAGIC?
One thing that I would love you to take from this episode is to FOCUS on feeling good and having a blast & leave the HOW & WHEN to the Universe.
STOP engaging in activities that drain your energy, such as scrolling social media, and fear-mongering news & focus on what really matters, YOU.

Have you set your goals YET?
Or perhaps you can't be bothered as often you don't achieve them?
I know I set plenty of goals, and often by the end of January, the end of March at best, I forgot all about them.
My suggestion is to set INTENTIONS instead, on the go through the year.
BOOM
How about that?
Plus, add the energy of assumption, as if it already has happened, and you have a recipe for SUCCESS.

It's all too often that, as we grow up, we forget how to live lives filled with joy and ease.
We all too often unconsciously subscribe to societal & cultural messages that adulthood is all about working hard, taking life seriously, being authentic is not ok & filtering our emotions.
If you are not grinding yourself down and working hard against challenges, you are doing it all wrong.
Are you?
I beg to differ.
Yes, we need to take aligned action, but working hard & hustling is the fastest road to burnout, mental & physical fatigue and disconnection.
And I know many of you experience that.
I believe you can live with the philosophy of BOTH AND.
You can absolutely find the balance between having a thriving career or business and inviting joy into your life.

37m · PublishedIn today's episode, I interviewed Lois Hollis, who brought up an interesting concept.
According to Lois, shame & guilt are two energies of the same coin.
That is an important distinction, as they are both loaded words.
Consider this.
Shame & guilt can contribute to us feeling depressed, anxious, should-ing on ourselves, second-guessing or feeling not good enough.
What?
Wild, I know.
π‘So the first important question you can ask yourself is what contributes to us feeling shame and guilt?
That can be
βWords we use (I am not as good as Sally or You stupid jerk, why did you do this)
βPast experiences, beliefs and stories we learnt by observation
βThe environment we are in
π‘And the second important question is, what can we do about that?
Here are a few suggestions that you can start with by yourself.
βοΈIt's important to understand that shame dissolves in detection, so practising self-awareness is vital.
βοΈMake friends with your inner critic.
βοΈPractice checking with yourself about what you need and what you can do to support yourself.
βοΈFace your emotions, feel them, express them & let them go.
