Hello Beasts! You guys!! I hope you’re ready to have your hearts set on fire, and I’m not talking about heart burn from the burrito you had for lunch. This episode IS FIRE ITSELF!! I hung out with my dear friend, Sarah Michelle Brunzell, and she told her story about her insane experience with drug addiction and how she was saved from it. She is honest, she is vulnerable, and she spills it ALL out for you… on the table…on a wooden platter…with a spork. ANYWAY, this woman is a freaking warrior and I encourage you to listen to the entire episode. Now, of course it starts off with us telling stories of back in the day about how we met and hit it off instantly, BUT, her story of addiction will set your heart on fire. PERIOD. What’s up, you Beautiful Beasts? Welcome back to the podcast! In this episode, I sat down with friend and police officer, Aaron Polly. We had a horrible internet connection so sometimes we don’t make sense, and sometimes one of us doesn’t laugh at something funny the other person said but just go with it! Aaron is super outdoorsy (if that’s a word) and loves rock climbing and hiking. He even has a rock-climbing zone that he built inside his house! We talked about quite a few things, including his experience with his wife being a surrogate mother and almost dying (WHAT?!), how he accidentally wrote a book, and he opens up about his experience as a victim in an abusive relationship and how why it’s sort of hard to talk about as a male victim. Last, but not least, we discussed some of our random tear fests as a parent, as well as some super funny moments in our parenthood experiences! As always, I hope something lands with you today. Welcome back! In today’s episode of the Unveiling the Beast Podcast, I’m hanging out with someone who I only know as a little sister, Megan White. This lady is the epitome of perseverance. In the beginning, we go down memory lane a bit and talk about things like…oh I don’t know…smoking our lawn rolled in colored construction paper at a seemingly abandoned elementary school. And then, she tells her story about being a 32-year-old cancer survivor. What in the actual world? Not only did she survive cancer, she was 1 out of 161 people to have that kind of cancer in the last 30 years…believe it or not, that’s not the kicker. The other 160 were old men who had smoked and drank for most of their lives. (silence) What I love about Megan is that she is NOT her cancer story. Other topics we discussed were stories about our moms (they were besties), the relationships we have with our bodies and food, her famous dog named Karen, and we had a really interesting Q&A between a parent and a non-parent who doesn’t plan on having kids. Megan is spunky and honest, and straight forward and Does NOT let things like cancer get in the way of her living best life. She will make you laugh, she will make you cry, and I promise, she will even make you cringe a little with her twisted and glorious sense of humor.        What’s up, beautiful beasts? Welcome back to the Unveiling the Beast podcast! I am super excited because I got to sit down with Mike Moffat, coowner and engineer of Schiit Audio (Pronounced “shit audio”). Mike is incredibly special for several reasons. He is, in fact, quite famous in the audio world, not just as the co-owner of Schiit Audio; he invented the first outboard digital to analog converter or DAC. (I know! Big words!) So, he has actually been in the audio world for a long ass time. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, don’t even trip, Homeslice! You don’t need to know that information to listen to our awesome interview where I got to learn how his father taught the importance of work ethic, OR what it was like to take on two teenaged kids when he married his wife. During our conversation, Mike also opened up about some hard truths concerning his daughter, AND, we discussed his perseverance through case after case of illnesses for the last ten years! The other factor that makes him extremely special is that I was one of those teenagers he took on. He is not just my stepdad; he is my other dad. He’s just as much my dad as my dad is.
