Axe - No Limits No Regrets: Bouncing Off the Redline of Adrenaline Addiction

32m · Published 17 Jun 17:00
On April 12, 2014, Axe set of on the ride of his life, setting the record for the fastest cross-country motorcycle ride at just 33 hours and 10 minutes. That's 33:10:00. I've heard of people driving across the U.S. in 3 days, roughly 1000 miles per day. But the idea of one person, riding a motorcycle no less, crossing the U.S. in 33 hours and 10 minutes is ... crazy.

But one man's crazy is another man's day in the office.

"I'm an addict," Axe said. "It started with whiskey and girls when I was younger, and over time it evolved into adrenaline addiction. Instead of running from death, I decided to chase it at full speed for the high. Addicts never recover; they just trade one craving for another."

Axe doesn’t suffer from addiction. He relishes it. Ever since an open heart surgery tested his metal, everyday challenges just haven’t been enough. In Axe's new book, "No Limits No Regrets: Bouncing Off The Redline of Adrenaline Addiction," he details the real time struggles he endured as he rode his modified BMW S1000RR motorcycle from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic, and the incredible feeling at the end.

"Success is a function of desire. If you want something badly enough, you can do almost anything. We live in a very risk-adverse society, but this is a story about taking risks and being accountable for the outcome of those risks." - Axe

Wagner's work focuses on how human nature affects business strategy. He currently serves as vice president of employee engagement strategy at BI Worldwide.

Wagner is a confidential advisor to senior executives on the best ways to increase their personal effectiveness and their organizations' performance. His work has taken him around the world, to the executive suites of major corporations in nearly every industry, to the Pentagon, and to the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.

Michael Lee Stallard will talk with me about his latest book, The Connection Culture.

Here’s my review of Connection Culture. In a nutshell, I loved it.

Michael is the co-founder and president of E Pluribus Partners, a leadership training, coaching and consulting firm.  He specializes in helping leaders create cultures that boost productivity and innovation to achieve sustainable superior performance.

He is the primary author of the bestselling book Fired Up or Burned Out: How to Reignite Your Team’s Passion, Creativity and Productivity. It has been widely praised by well-respected leaders and thought leaders. Frances Hesselbein, Chairman of the Leader to Leader Institute, described the book as "the indispensable leadership guide for leaders everywhere." Russell Reynolds, Jr., founder and former CEO of Russell Reynolds Associates wrote, "An enthralling and impressive work. It shows how to empower people and create great societies, corporations and cultures. I'm giving it to everyone at my own firm."

Michael spoke with me in 2010 about this book. You can listen here.  You can read it here  I remember our conversation as being one of my favorites for the topic and for the speaker. I’m looking forward to an

Rory Vaden - Author of Procrastinate on Purpose

45m · Published 16 Jan 18:00
Rory Vaden is the author of the NY Times bestseller Take The Stairs: 7 Steps to Achieving True Success. He's also co-founder of the international training company Southwestern Consulting. He's a much sought-after keynote speaker, consultant and has been interviewed  on Oprah Radio, Fox News, Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Inc., and now here.

We're going to talk about his latest book  - I predict it's another NY TImes bestseller. The title is Procrastinate on Purpose: 5 Permissions to Multiply Your Time. In his book, Rory offers no to-do list wizardry, no ways to be a checklist ninja. Instead he offers ways for us to identify and focus on what's important, say no to the things that don't matter and yes to those that do.

Dave Ramsey, a fellow NY Times best-selling author and host of his own nationally syndicated radio show, says: Rory builds on what we've all heard about time management and adds the two things ... missing: emotion and significance.

Seth Godin wrote: A brilliant insight turned into an actionable method. Start now!

Come find out about those two things, why they mean so much  and the five  permissions to multiply your. Together, they can help you 'gain control and inner peace by adopting the 'multiplier mindset.'  that together will help you.

Mindy Hall: Author of Leading with Intention - Every Moment is a Choice

57m · Published 21 Nov 19:00
Mindy Hall, PhD, is the author of Leading with Intention: Every Moment is a Choice. A great book, one of my favorites, one I'll keep close at hand. She is the President and CEO of Peak Development Consulting, LLC. Since founding the company 1996, she has worked with clients throughout North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia to create sustainable organization and leadership development solutions: helping leaders create solutions for today’s challenges, while also growing their capacity to lead future initiatives from within. Clients include leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, technology, insurance, manufacturing, government, and nonprofit organizations, several of which are among the Fortune 50.

She began her career as the director of a nonprofit, 24-hour crisis center and has always been surprised how transferable the skills were from crisis center to corporate work.

On her website at Peak Development, LLC she promises Honest Advice. Practical Solutions. Real Results. I believe her. Empathy strengthens as we grow in our careers while remembering our humble beginnings. Empathy is a key trait for all successful leaders.

Come listen as we talk about Leading with Intention, making good choices in every moment, and crisis centers and corporate cultures share much in common these days. I'm thinking that if you follow her advice, lead with intention, some of company's daily fire drills can be eliminated while you grow in revenues and profits.
